Advantages: Its good cleaning and makes things easier to clean.

Disadvantages: No refills! Anywhere!!

I have this- I have had this for a while and don't know why I didn't think to review it earlier- it's a good product!

I bought this, on offer, in Sainsbury's for £1 for the "starter pack", normally they are £3.99 when I see them at full price- I bought mine on "discontinued" discount (the discontinued part the store seem to have ignored and since restocked at full price). It includes a light bright green dense foam handle (not sure how else to describe it- it looks like a washing up sponge but is about a third bigger and much firmer in texture), and three cleaning scourers scrubs which are stick to the green handle so you can scrub things.

Its a simple concept- a scrubbing cloth, impregnated with cleaning detergent, which is replaceable and sits below a large soft but firm handle, so you don't damage your nails not have to grin and bear the sensation of scrubbing cloth which I would liken to a blackboard being scratched with bare nails! (-makes the hairs on your back stand up- not good!). I bought this set, happy in the knowledge I would not have to go through that dire sensation ever again! The handle is large enough that your finger tips wouldn't touch the sourer, let alone your fingers and nails themselves.

As I said, it's very easy to understand, and once open, you don't even really need to read the instructions. You stick the scrubber to the handle via Velcro strips which hold the scrubber in place while you scrub at things to your hearts content. Add a little water and your ready to go!

As the scrubber is squared off at the edges, its then easier to scrub at corners of things, the corners of the sink, the corners of the bath....without having to twist your regular sourer into odd shapes and without having to push so hard either. For some reason, using this required far less elbow grease- weather it's the detergents on the sourer or the foam handle thing, I don't know for sure, but the fact is, it does work well.

So, after about a month, I need a new set of replacements. So I head back to Sainsbury's. Only to find....none. No refills? That can't be right? But then I think back to the fact I only paid £1 for the set (reduced I think from £4). Ah, I think, knew it was too good to be true, Sainsbury's must have been discontinuing the item. So I try Tesco. Nope, no refills there either. But they do have the set at full price. And Asda? No refills either. A less then helpful assistant points to the new set when I ask about refills. I try to explain that that is the set as it comes with the foam handle and I have already got the set and only need refills, but he again explains to me that this is where the refills are. I give up trying after the third time, but slowly am coming to the conclusion that maybe he had a point.
Pound shops, markets, internet, all seem to turn up a blank. Have S.C.Johnson discontinued this item? You would think so. But I bought my set about 2 years ago. It's still going strong in most Supermarkets I see. And the Sainsbury's I picked it up from has not got them in again but at full price.

I guess that £1 was too good to be true.

Summary: Disapointing

They are £4 normally (in 6th paragraph-now edited to first paragraph, thanks Nar2)

Well covered.

I often wondered about these! If no replacements can be found then it is one I'd avoid despite the cleaning performance. What are the proper prices?

I think they try to be too clever sometimes with new cleaning things
