Advantages: Smells absolutely stunning with a natural mandarin and cinnamon aroma
Disadvantages: None for me
I absolutely adore beautifully fragranced candles and whilst I had previously been faithful to Yankee Candles I have since fallen in love with those belonging to Shearers, a Scottish company that was established in 1897. The contemporary looking candles are far superior to any others that I have used as they offer a luxurious appearance as well as being of an exceptionally high quality. I have amassed a huge stash of Christmas fragrances over the last few months; all of which I have tried, tested and repurchased and this review discusses the Orange and Cinnamon fragrance.
~~ APPEARANCE OF THE CANDLE ~~
The appearance of all of the Shearer Candles in a Tin are absolutely stunning as they offer an eye-catching and elegant label that is either edged in shiny gold or silver. In the case of the Orange and Cinnamon fragrance the vibrant and refreshing orange candle wax is contained within a golden coloured circular tin with a matching orange label adorned with a contrasting pattern. What I adore about these 181g tins is that they are reasonably sized with their measurements of 4½ cm in height and 6 cm in diameter and they look very decorative when placed in my home.
~~ BURNING THE CANDLE ~~
The beautiful golden edged transparent lid is easily removed when the wax offers the most aromatic fragrance when I lift the tin to my nose. Whilst the label informs us that the wax contains orange it actually dispenses a zesty mandarin aroma, which is slightly sharper than an orange fragrance. I was extremely impressed when burning this candle, as whilst other brands have attempted to create a realistic mandarin fragrance, they have failed miserably as the aroma would be weak and/or artificial.
However, Shearers receive top marks from me as the citrus aroma mirrors that of the real thing and always reminds me of the festive season and a bowl full of luscious satsumas or clementines. Within a few minutes of lighting the single wick I am able to witness the fresh, invigorating and uplifting aroma of the mandarin, which is soon accompanied with a delicate yet extremely evident hint of cinnamon. The two scents work beautifully together and create the perfect festive ambience.
The fragrance is considerably strong and rapidly fills my living room creating a comforting and cosy environment. What I love about Shearers is that the aroma does not weaken the more the wax is burned and I am able to obtain approximately 20 hours of use from each tin. I tend to burn my candles for periods of 2 - 3 hours and after distinguishing the wick the aroma lingers for a good hour afterwards.
I cannot recommend Shearers Orange and Cinnamon highly enough and as a result, I have purchased a further 8 tins in readiness for the forthcoming festivities.
~~ PRICE AND AVAILABILITY ~~
I make all my purchases of Shearers Candles via Amazon from the seller Casca Candles, but at the time of writing this fragrance is not available from Amazon. However, I have checked the Shearers website and would advise that they are selling it for £3.50 per tin plus postage and packing.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
Summary: A high quality candle from Shearers
