Shearer Candles is a Scottish company offering a range of scented products for the home. The current line up of products includes various designed candles, reed diffusers and room sprays.
Shearer Candles offer three fragranced room sprays on their website - Orange and Cinnamon, Wild Tuscan Fig and Fleur d'Angelique. I will be discussing my use of the latter. Stores such as Amazon offer a much wider range of fragrances from this brand.
Fleur d'Angelique is classed as a 'scented cologne' room spray and can be used in all rooms. The scent is described as being 'amber and rose fondant' with floral notes of violet, amber and tuberose. The Amber and Rose fragrance is also available in candle format.
This room spray is presented in a simple yet attractive glass bottle which is tall and clear. The golden tinted liquid is visible and the bottle has some basic information on it. This bottle features a spray top concealed under a gold coloured lid.
This room spray can be purchased from www.shearer-candles.com priced at £5.00 for 100ml. It is also available from Amazon for £2.95.
I became a fan of Shearer products since a dear reviewing friend sent me some of their candles. In turn, I convinced my sister to try them and well, she has converted from Yankee to Shearer! During her last online order, she picked up a few of the room sprays and bought me a bottle of Fleur d'Angelique. Whilst marketed as a cologne, I do not believe this is intended to be used on the skin and is simply a room spray.
This gift was very much appreciated as I love to try any new scented products. I am very paranoid that my house doesn't smell as pleasant as I really want it to so these type of products are a must for me. The bottle holding the golden liquid is of a high quality. I have never had an issue with the spray top. I like to use this around my home and use it much like an air freshener spray.
The liquid sprays out just like a perfume and hangs in the air beautifully. It doesn't drop to the floor like many sprays (which is ideal given that we have mainly wooden flooring in our home). Whilst Fleur d'Angelique wouldn't have been my first choice of scent (I fancy some of the rarer scents available from Amazon), I do find it to be quite a pleasant scent to spray around my home.
Fleur d'Angelique replaces any odours in my home including cooking smells and any smelly aroma coming from my fiances work boots/bag due to dampness. It is quite a strong, heady scent which is a blend of floral, sweet and spicy notes in my opinion. It is quite uplifting at first but settles to reveal a warm scent which makes it perfect for using in the evening. The rose in this scent is quite sweet with delicate floral and slightly powdery undertones. The warm comes from the amber and violet but I'm not sure where the spicy addition comes from but I like it all the same.
I find this to be a pleasant spray to use in the evening as the aroma is quite relaxing and comforting. It is a little overpowering at first but settles quickly to a pleasant strength that just lingers and leaves my rooms smelling scented. I find it ideal to spray into the middle of my bedroom half an hour before bed so I can witness it when I go to bed. I have had no issues with the spray staining any fabrics though I do not spray it directly onto fabrics. The scent lingers (if our doors are closed) for 2hours or so which I find excellent and it goes to show how high quality the fragrance is.
This room spray is quick and easy to use and smells very lovely indeed. It won't be to everyones tastes but I love it as it makes my home smell good. I do prefer burning candles but it isn't always practical so having a highly concentrated spray is an excellent alternative. The scent offered is much more appealing than regular air freshener sprays. A 100ml bottle will last quite sometime even with regular use and I feel £5.00 is a fair price to pay for this type of product.
