Advantages: easyy to use
Disadvantages: not suitable for non stick pans
One of the products I use for scrubbing and scouring in my kitchen is a handy tough scourer by Spontex.
This is the scourer I use for really difficult burnt on or greasy items, I sometimes use it to scour round the inside of a tea /coffee stained mug.
This scourer is not soap filled. It is a scourer made of thin stainless steel. Coiled fibres arranged in a circle around a blue plastic handle it is about 7 cm in diameter, just the right size to fit in a mug.
The handle is a smooth plastic and easy to hold making scouring easy. The handle is a good idea as it keeps your hands away from harsh chemicals. These are easy to use and you can use whatever cleaner you like with it.
After a lot of fierce scrubbing they will become unravelled but I find this does not happen unless you are rough with your scrubber. My Spontex scourers last me quite a long while.
They are not suitable for non-stick pans. I find them useful for the BBQ and also can be used to rub down and prepare paintwork
Does not rust like some soap filled pads the old fashioned steel wool my mum used to use.. These handy scourers have taken over from brillo pads in my house.
Thanks for reading, writing about this product has made me feel guilty I have lots of things waiting to be scrubbed in the kitchen must go,pans to scrubb . )
