“ Brand: Stardrops / Type: Disinfectants / Category: Cleaning & Disinfectant „
I've got to be honest and say that I only bought this product because you got 50% extra free - that and the fact that it says in big bold red lettering that it kills 99.9% of bacteria.
I'm always on the lookout for a bargain in the cleaning department as I like the house to look clean and sparkling with the minimum of effort. The fact that it has also been tested to kill flu virus also appealed.
This disinfectant spray can be used around sinks, toilet bowls and baths where bacteria may lurk and is quick and simple to use. You simply spray onto the surface, leave for five minutes and then wipe away. I tend to use one of those thin inexpensive cloths for this as it can be thrown away after use, taking the germs and the grime with it.
This product contains pine oil, and while I really like some of the lovely fragrances that disinfectants can come in, this typical pine scent is reassuringly traditional and is associated with somewhere that has been given a thorough clean.
Stardrops products have been around for a long time and I always find them effective and good value for money and this disinfectant spray is no exception.
It is important to read the small print on the back of the spray bottle however, as it warns about keeping it out of reach of children and pets, not to breathe in the spray and details what surfaces it is suitable and ones to avoid, such as those which have been painted and marble.
I will certainly buy this spray again whether or not it is on offer, because it really does as it says.
I'm obsessed with my home being clean and tidy and I am exactly the same with my horses' yard. Everything has its place and I like everything to be kept clean. I do have a kitchen and small bathroom at the yard which was installed when we moved there a few years ago and everyone can use it whether it's us or the people who keep their horses at the yard so it is used frequently on a daily basis.
For this I like everything to be kept clean and cleaning seems to be a daily task for me (although everyone who uses it keeps it tidy). I have cleaning products kept at the yard and once they run out I just buy more! I am not loyal to a brand and when I bought the Stardrops Antibacterial Spray I also picked up a bottle of the Stardrops Disinfectant Spray which was a bargain at 99p so it was worth trying especially for somewhere which is used a lot!
The Stardrops Disinfectant Spray is part of the Stardrops 'Protect' range and to be quite honest I'd never heard of this product let alone their 'Protect' range! However, it was a bargain and was going to be used in places such as the bathroom which requires a strong cleaner although the bathroom is generally clean and tidy when it is used by people walking around a yard all day a disinfectant is definitely needed!
The Disinfectant spray comes in a clear plastic bottle with a trigger spray with the on/off switch. The cleaning fluid is bright green in colour and stands out like a mile on any shelf in a store! On the front label there is the Stardrops star cartoon type image with the product name and the white shield with the blue cross. It also claims to kill 99.9% of bacteria and it can kill the flu virus. On the back label there are all the warnings, contact info and usage instructions that can one expect from a cleaning product.
Using the cleaner is obviously really easy as you point the bottle head where you want to clean, pull the trigger and spray directly onto the surface you are cleaning. The spray comes out in a fine mist which manages to cover quite a wide area and it does come out a slight green colour which if you are cleaning a white area then at least you can see where the cleaner has gone but it does dry pale green if you don't wipe it up in time!
The smell of this disinfectant is absolutely vile and the only way I can describe it is that it has the same smell of a similar cleaner used by the school janitor or used in a sports centre. To me it brings back memories of being in the school corridors and to me that smell is potent and I do not like it at all! Maybe some people do like it but for me I can't stand it! However, once you have wiped it with your cloth the smell does disappear quite quickly.
As I said I use at the yard and mainly in the kitchen and bathroom. Now I use it on all types of surface such as tiles, worktops, laminate floor, porcelain and plastic and it seems that whatever the surface the disinfectant spray manages to clean any surface really well and manages to remove dirt and grime without any problems whatsoever. Even better is that it doesn't leave a residue behind once it dries which can happen with some cleaners I have used.
You get quite a lot in each bottle and especially if you manage to get a 50% extra bottle you will find that it actually lasts for quite a long time. I have found that you don't actually need to use a lot in order to cover a large area which is great as it means that it keeps the cost down. Despite being quite a cheap cleaning product it actually does quite a good job in keeping the areas clean which at the end of the day is exactly what I want it to do!
I can definitely recommend this disinfectant spray and for £0.99p it is certainly worth a go. It cleans well and you don't need to use half the bottle to clean a small bathroom which is great. However, the only thing that does put me off is the smell, I really cannot stand it but fortunately it disappears once the spray has dried and been wiped away. It easily clears dirt and grime and does a good job on most surfaces. 4 stars from me and I'm knocking off a star purely due to the smell!
** I found my bottle in a home discount store but I have never seen it in a supermarket so it may be a Wilkinsons/BM/Home Bargains etc buy. But if you see it definitely give it a go. **
