==Surf Washing Powder, Lavender & Spring Jasmine== Even though I use a variety of Laundry Detergents from different brands, whenever the cold weather is here my skin goes all dry & irritated, meaning I have to watch what I wash myself in & my clothes in. About 2 weeks since it started I have been exfoliating my skin everytime i shower, & have been using Detergents I know that won't irritate my skin. Particularly I have been using Daz Original, Ecover Non - Bio & the Surf i'm going to review today. All of these detergents I've been using have improved my skin & since they are all on offer regularly I might stick to them as I hate my skin being irritated! What's also great is that they smell so good & they clean really effectively. Plus they have plenty of experience & have many fans across the UK. Surf is a brand of detergent that's been around for a long time, since 1952 to be precise. They have come a long way since they began & were originally (1970's, 80's & early to mid 90's) a laundry detergent that claimed to clean as well as formulated brands like Persil but at a lower price so you can save money. In 1999 Surf began to formulate fragrances for their detergents such as Lemon Fresh etc. & in 2000 Surf released a fragrance called 'Sun Fresh' which was basically reformulated Radion when Unilever scrapped the brand in February. Since then Surf has claimed to remove 99 stains, develop new fragrances such as 'Cotton Fresh' & added Essential Oils to the detergents to improve the fragrance. I think that over time they have improved but they still have the same cleaning power as they always have. Surf Powder is my favourite variation of Surf detergents, it's cheap & the dosage can be varied. It costs the same as a box of Daz in Savers & anywhere you go you can find the 25 wash box on offer, ALWAYS. Savers £2.99, Morrisons £2.75 etc which is a good thing. My favourite fragrance is the Lavender & Jasmine one, it's the one that smells the nicest in my opinion. I bought the 10 wash box from Savers which cost £1.99 but I got it for free due to a coupon Unilever sent me & it needed using up. The box is decorated in a nice lilac shade & displays a nice big Surf logo in blue with a yellow outline. Around the logo there is a swirl of Lavender & Spring Jasmine. Around the box you have directions, cautions, safety warnings, ingredients info, & Unilever info. The back of the box talks about the fragrance & that it 'Lasts & Lasts'. Whenever I buy a 10 wash box of laundry detergent I am tempted to use the correct amount to get my money's worth. In this box you get 10 washes providing you use 130ml per load but I need max 80ml so I can easily stretch the box to about 14 washes. It does say above the directions that you're clothes will be clean with Surf even in a Quick Wash & that by doing this you can save yourself some time! I have used this on 30c Quick Washes, 30c Washes & 40c Washes & it has worked well on all washes. Even though Surf contains Bleaching Agents it hasn't faded any colours yet like Daz does & it performs well on whites too. I can say that it does remove stains but for my White Bedding that had many stains on it with a simple 80ml of Surf & a table spoon of Napisan & a 30c Wash (normal not Quick) Surf removes all of the stains & I did not use any fabric conditioner in this load either so when I put it back on the bed after a line dry I could smell the Lavender & it was so soft! I was really pleased with this & when I did hand washing with this it rinsed out easily & didn't fade any of my clothes that I did by hand. I have used this with Lenor Sleep Sensations & this only adds to the gorgeous Lavender Smell! ==Summary== Overall this is a very good detergent that has the cleaning power or Persil, the price of Daz & the fragrance of Bold. Only a little is required & it cleans stains off really easily even in a Quick Cycle. I would definately buy this again alongside Daz as it dosen't irritate my skin. '''Thanks for Reading!'''
I normally buy Daz or Aldi washing liquid but seeing Surf Essential Oils with Lavender Powder on offer ages ago I bought it. Made by Unilever it currently it costs around a fiver for 2kg which equates to 25 washes and is widely available. I usually get more than that out of these boxes. The box is sturdy cardboard and looks nice in lilac with Surf printed on it, and tells us that it's 'Gorgeous Value' and that it's 'Surf with essential oils' my box was as above but I think it's a bit different now. The box has loads of info. It claims outstanding washing at 15 degrees but I wouldn't know as I've only washed at 30 and though it washes okay I wouldn't call it outstanding. I have hand washed with it but the water needs to be warm to dissolve it properly. This is a biological washing powder which is great for cleaning, but not so great if you've got sensitive skin- biological powder can sometimes fade colours too (my sons black school jumper for example). I was surprised to read that this powder isn't suitable for wool and silk. Sometimes I find it can be a bit irritating- but maybe on occasion I've used too much. The powder itself smells like Lavender, it looks like normal washing powder. You are instructed to put a cupful in the draw and not straight into the drum. I always wash at 30 degrees, unless I'm washing something particularly dirty, and this powder doesn't always completely dissolve properly. Clothes (dark Tee shirts in particular) can come out with a powder residue which is annoying, this is why I prefer using liquids. It performs well and better than cheap branded powders but no better than other big brands, the washing comes out clean and smelling nice and Lavendery but the fragrance doesn't last as long as claimed. It has good results on stains when on a hot wash but doesn't always wash them out completely but mostly. Although containing essential oils this doesn't act as a softener. I'm giving it 4 stars because it cleans as well as other brands and most powders leave a residue at 30 degrees and this one is no exception.
We have been buying Surf washing powder for a while now and our current favourite is the one in the very attractive lilac coloured box box called Lavendar and oriental Blossom. We buy a box which will give us around thirty washes (sometimes less, depending on how dirty the clothes actually are) and this costs us around £5.50 but sometimes it's on offer and we can manage to get a box a fair bit cheaper. Personally speaking though, we don't manage to find it on offer that often! The smell is lovely and fresh with a background hint of lavendar and outdoor freshness and it hits you just as soon as you open the box lid. It is a white grainy powder with the usual little blue bits in there just like you get with any ordinary powder washing detergent. It dissolves very well and cleans whites as well as colours. It is a biological powder and it does remove stains very well and we rarley need to use an additional stain remover as it is very tough on the marks in the clothes. The box comes with a handy powder scoop which doubles up as a measuring device, and this I personally think is always a useful thing to have. The only thing that bugs me about this is the fact that it is in a cardboard box and will soak up any water that is lying about. This will often result in it penetrating through into the box and then the powder and then you get left with huge great lumps of solid washing detergent - which isn't great! Other than this - a great product and I would recommend it. Review also on Ciao as sorehead
When it comes to buying wash powder I like to usually buy one that is on special offer because they can be often at almost half the usual price and so it really does make sense to buy it if seen on an offer to save money because we all need to wash our clothes etc and it is an essential buy at the supermarket, so when I spotted this one on offer I bought it and stocked my cupboard until I needed to use it and it is one that I am currently using at the moment. It comes in a cardboard box, the box is a nice Lilac colour with the name clearly on the front of the box, the one I am using is 800g and I paid only £1 for it at the time from Asda and it was around half the usual price and so a bargain. Surf is a very well known brand and it has been around for a lot of years. This powder is very good quality and good value for the money in my opinion, even at the usual price. The powder is white in colour with tiny blue grains added to the powder, the amount of blue grains is quite enough and it has a beautiful fragrance. It smells of Lavender and Jasmine and it smells gorgeous. The smell is apparent as soon as the box is opened and the texture of the grains are very fine and so very easy to dissolve in the washing machine. I find because of the fine grains it does not clog the powder compartment drawer of my machine and the grains dissolve beautifully just the way I expect a powder to perform in my machine as I hate it when powder gathers together and does not dissolve properly but this one is super with no problems at all. I find it cleans my fabrics very well and it removes stains and although most of my clothes are not heavily stained, I do have a little grandson that eats his treats at my home and more often than not he drops food onto his clothes and I wash them for the next time he visits, the powder has removed chocolate and all the other food from his clothing with no problems at all. It also has not irritated his delicate skin in any way and it is a nice gentle powder that suits his skin just perfectly. I have had no irritations on my skin with this powder and it suits my sensitive skin too. It has cleaned my whites very well and they do not look all off white in colour after using this powder, it has also cleaned my colours too and in a way I expect my washing detergent to clean all my fabrics. I love the smell of this when I have washed my bedding, towels and even some curtains as it has left them smelling nice and fresh, it also has staying power and used with my conditioner in every wash I have found this one to have a beautiful fragrance left on my fabrics after they have dried. The fragrance is apparent on my fabrics immediately they are taken from my machine and I then know it has washed them just perfectly and in a way I expect a powder to perform. My towels feel nice and soft too and with both the conditioner they smell beautiful. Some people do not like the smell of Lavender but I love it but I do not like it to smell too strong and this one is in my opinion just the correct amount of fragrance for anyone who prefers a much lighter smell of Lavender, I would say if you do not like the smell of Lavender at all, this one probably would not be suitable. It is suitable to wash the fabrics on a very low setting of just 15% and the 800g sized box is designed to wash up to 10 wash loads but if the fabrics are heavily soiled, this amount would be less. I just pour a little into the compartment of the machine and a little goes a very long way with this powder. It is also available in a larger size of 2kg but I am not sure if there are any other sizes available with this one but I could be wrong but I have not aware of any. I bought the smaller size because of the offer but if you have a large family and like to buy a larger box then the larger size would be more suitable. I think it is affordable and for the usual price I just think it is an amazing powder and I will buy it again in the future as I think it is superb and worth the money in my opinion, I highly recommend it to anyone who has not bought it before because I just think you would not be disappointed and most of all it gives the results that I expect from a washing powder. I give it 5 stars. Also on Ciao under my username Pinky50. Thank you for reading my review.
For me a nice washing powder gives my clothes and bedding a much longer smelling fragrance and much softer too and although I have bought the cheaper brands I always find myself certainly not liking them as much as the branded ones. The branded ones obviously are much higher in price but the reason as we all know is because they do wash and smell so much better. This one was priced at just £2.10 for 800g and I bought it from Asda, it comes in a cardboard box and the powder inside is a soft texture of tiny white grains with a few blue grains added to the powder and the powder does smell really nice once the box has been opened by the strip that is around the top of the box and it can easily be opened without difficulty. This is supposed to wash approximately 10 wash load of average size and I have not counted the amount of washes but I would say that it does wash the amount stated on the box, which is quite a substantial amount of washes for the price. Surf has been around for many years and a very well known brand who do make lots of nice smelling products, they produce very good quality products that suit my liking and I am not a picky person but I do like my clothes and bedding to smell nice and fresh. This powder cleans my clothing very well indeed and I am very happy with the freshness that it gives for my clothes and my towels etc. I do find that it does remove stubborn stains just how I like a powder to remove. My towels with this one does not make them feel all hard etc as some other brands do. The amounts stated on the box tell me that for heavily soiled fabrics to use 130ml and for medium soiled fabrics only 50ml, I do not actually measure the amount of powder that I use in the machine and I normally just guess the amount and pour it into the drawer of the machine where the powder is to be placed. My wife now always likes the temperature to wash the clothes on a lower setting and I have used this powder on a lower setting of just 30 degrees and it has cleaned the clothes just as well and so I have found it quite adequate to set the machine on the lower setting. I have lots of grandchildren who leave clothes at my home for when they need to be changed and this powder has cleaned and removed the stubborn stains which have been on their clothing after eating chocolate etc and they are nice and clean again as well as smelling really nice and fresh. This one has not irritated mine or my families skin at all and it is a very good quality powder which I recommend to others to buy as I think it is a really decent nice one for the price and I will certainly continue to buy this one because it suits myself and my family very well indeed. I rate it 5 stars.
When it comes to washing it's one of my favourite pastimes! I love it and I love clean feeling, looking and of course smelling clothes and I tend to be someone who washes a lot because I'm the sort of person that wears something half an hour and then it gets thrown in a washing basket and I've always been the same way lol. Living at Mums it drove her mental but now I'm staying with my mate I have no one to nag me and I am dead chuffed that I can do someone else's washing too! Cos I get through so many washing products my mate, when out shopping decided to get a huge box of this! I was delighted and particularly liked the sound of it! The Packaging: Light lilac box with a pattern of flowers all over it. On the front of the box I'm told that it is 'Gorgeous Value' Surf 'With essential oils', Lavender & Oriental Blossom and that it is biological washing powder and that in this case this box should give us 26 washes. Other information stated on the box includes being told a bit about the product, how to use it, the ingredients are given as are contact details for Unilver. It's a nice looking box and no matter the size of it, this fragrance you get the same colour scheme and information given on every one and it's all very informative and easy to understand. Using It: Well how much you need of course depends on the water type your area has and how much washing you have too. This size is great cos it comes with a turquoise measuring jug and has the measurements on the side of it. I use 130ml in my wash and simply add it to the drawer and set my temperature and away it goes. I usually pot my washing on a 40C for mixed and every day sort of washing, 60c on only darks or lights a load and 95C on really dirty whites (only occasionally!). It does say on the box that you can use this on 15C but maybe that settings on newer machines that I'm using cos I don't have that option! The powder itself is white with dark blue bits in it in abundance. I find that it always leaves the drawer and goes into my wash with ease and it rinses out of fabrics with ease. Once used my washing feels clean as well as smells and looks it, providing I use the right temperature for the wash I get clean washing! The smell is lovely with this, rather floral with a hint of lavender to it that isn't in your face but rather fresh fragranced! Result: Like I say you set the right temperature this does the rest. I like the way the powder rinses out with ease and leaves no soapy residue either visible or felt within fabrics. Not only does it smell nice when used (and totally unisex by the way!), clothes stay smelling nice for about a week from washing them and stored. I have also used this on hand washing and again providing you use the amount recommended it cleans and freshens clothes with ease. I rather like Surf on the whole and find this does a great job and if you like your washing powders then I think you should give this a whirl personally! Expect to pay £4.98 for 208kg (my size), £2.10 for a 800g box which gives 10 washes or £8.98 for a 4kg box that gives a whopping 50 washes! Available in all good supermarkets etc and in different fragrances too!
