Advantages: smells good

Disadvantages: does not remove even the basic of stains

This is not my usual washing choice but as I had run out of my usual and did not fancy a trip to Tesco just for washing powder then I went to my local shop and this was the only decent product on the shelf. I was a little dubious about it as the bottle is small and it is a liquid where as I normally use powder but I decided to give it a go.

~~THE BOTTLE~~

The bottle is plastic and it is white with a lovely pattern of orange streamers all around the side with pictures of tangerines at the bottom. The title of the product is in the middle in blue and orange lettering. The back of the bottle has all the relevant info about the washing powder including, required amounts, directions for use, ingredients and contact info if you have any problems with the liquid. The top of the bottle is bright orange and this is the measuring cap which can be found on the inside of the lid.

~~USE~~

The bottle states that it has enough liquid for 20 washes but for me this seemed a little far fetched ass I usually use a lot of powder to make sure the clothes come out clean but with this as it is concentrated I decided to follow the directions on the back of the bottle. It is recommended that for a standard load of 4/5kg then one capful is enough but for heavy soiled clothes or larger loads then it recommends one and a half capfuls. Also if you live in a hard water area then use the larger amount of the liquid.

For me as it was only washing school clothes and normal everyday trousers and tops went for the 1 capful as they were not too dirty and I thought that this would be enough. When opening the lid I instantly noticed the smell which was very pleasant. It smells very much like oranges with a light floral fragrance added to it. It was not overpowering at all.

I poured the liquid which is a nice creamy colour into the lid where there is a small section inside for this to be measured and then poured it into the dispenser on my washing machine. I did find that the liquid did not all come out of the measuring area but as this is separate from the edge of the lid then it did not run down the side of the bottle then I put this back on top of the bottle.

~~RESULTS~~

I was expecting good things from this washing liquid as it was expensive and Surf is a well known brand but for me it just did not make the grade. I found that it did not remove beans from white school tops and neither did it remove the paint which my eldest decided to get on his school trousers. Now some might say that this may be because of the paint type of the amount of beans but my normal cheap powder removes these items no problems and leaves no mark. I did re wash the clothes using more of the liquid but it still made no difference to the stains.

I did notice that when the clothes were dry they did smell very nice and I was still able to smell the fragrance after the clothes had been put away in the wardrobe and then got out a few days later. It is not an overpowering smell but it is noticeable when I has having cuddles from my boys and their clothes were right next to me.

~~INGREDIENTS~~

The ingredients of this liquid for those who wish to know are:-

15-30% Anionic surfactants, Non-ionic surfactants
5-15% Soap
<5% Perfume, Polycarboxylates,Phosphonates, Optical brighteners, Butylphenyl, Methylopropional, Enzymes, Geraniol.

~~WARNING~~

There are a couple of warning and recommendations on the back of the bottle and these include not using this on silk or wool fabric, always wash dark colours separately, don't soak leather clothes with metal fasteners or flame resistant fabrics, do not wash flame resistant fabrics above 50 deg. Celsius.

One warming I would give is to keep this out of reach of small children as there is no safety cap and the lid is very easy to remove.

~~PRICE AND AVAILABILITY~~

I bought this from my local Londis shop for £2.99 but when I went into Tesco last I did look at their price and they are selling it for £2.89. For me this s a little high as I use so much of it. It comes in a 730ml bottle and it states that it has 20 washes inside.

~~OVERALL~~

Overall I am not going to recommend this product as it did not get rid of the stains on my clothes but it did leave a wonderful smell on them and it also allowed me to stick to washing at 30deg's. Back to my tried and tested cheap brand then!

Summary: Nice smelling washing liquid but does not clean the clothes

Sounds pretty useless - guess I'll stick with the cheap one I know works. Shame as it sounds like it smells lovely!

Excellent review. I agree. It failed at cleaning my clothes also. I only bought it as I read a few great reviews (as I do not like surf for deep cleaning clothes) Well I had to use three cap fulls in the end. Thank goodness I only paid £1.99 for it. Bold is the best : )
