After my disappointment with the Surf Essential Oils Tropical Flowers Capsules I was a little hesitant to try another Surf product simply because I didn't want to buy another item and to waste my money. However, after hearing rave reviews from my mother about the concentrated liquid I decided to give it ago and after all if I didn't like it I could blame her for the recommendation!
Fortunately most laundry products are on offer regularly including Surf and I managed to pick up a large bottle of the Surf Small & Mighty Lily and Ylang Ylang Concentrated for just £2.00 which I did think was a bit of a bargain. There are quite a few other varieties in the Surf concentrated range but I opted for the Lily and Ylang Ylang as it appealed to me purely because I love lilies and the smell they can give.
What is it?
Surf Small & Mighty Lily and Ylang Ylang Concentrated is a laundry detergent which has been concentrated so you don't use as much as you would compared to another liquid detergent. It gives the idea that because you use less the further your money goes but still managing to clean your clothes just as good as using a regular detergent. The Lily & Ylang Ylang is one of a few varieties that Surf do in their concentrated range.
Just like all other concentrated laundry liquids the Surf Small & Mighty Lily and Ylang Ylang Concentrated comes in a tall, shaped white plastic bottle which has a cap which doubles up as the measuring cap also. The bottle is bright and colourful teaming with bright pinks and yellows together with images of lilies as well as the blue Surf logo. On the back of the bottle there is usage instructions, warnings and product information.
The amount you use all depends on the size of your load of washing as well as your water type. I live in a hard water area but I can still get away with just using one cap full of the concentrated liquid which is great but I don't overload my washing machine as this ensures the clothes and other items to be washed are cleaned properly.
To use the detergent you simply take off the bottle's cap and fill it with your required amount and pop in the washing machine drum preferably at the back on top of your clothes and that's it. The only small downside I have with using the cap in the washing machine drum is that it manages to get caught up in your clothes so you do have to remember to fish it out and put back on the bottle!
The liquid itself is a milky white colour and is incredibly fragrant. It does have quite a sweet but very floral aroma which is incredibly noticeable as soon as you open the bottle which is really nice but you couldn't distinguish whether you could smell either lilies or ylang ylang but regardless of this the aroma was lovely.
I was a little hesitant using another Surf product but I really needn't have worried at all. The quite intense aroma which you can first smell when you open the bottle it remains on the clothes and as soon as I have opened the washing machine door I am met with a lovely floral aroma. Hoorah! Finally, a laundry detergent that passes it's aroma onto the clothes.
After washing them and then leaving them to dry naturally (I am trying desperately not to use my tumble drier!) I was pleased that not only were my clothes nice and soft but they still smelt lovely and fresh. They did of course have a lovely clean smell to them but I was much more impressed that they smelt so nice. Despite some of my items being stored such as towels and bed linen even a week later the fragrance still remains which is even better.
Definitely a laundry detergent that I am impressed with and will be buying again. Because you only use a limited amount the bottle does last for quite a while which of course makes my money last just a little longer especially when I seem to do so many loads of washing a week! A concentrated laundry detergent that I can easily recommend! 5 stars from me.
