Advantages: Good cleaning power.

Disadvantages: The smell does fade quite quickly.

Sunshine Lemons and Bergamot, are we talking Chanel, Dior or Guerlain ?
Guess again ! In fact I am referring to the new Surf Small and Mighty laundry liquid, currently on offer in Wilkinson's at just under £2 for a 730ml bottle.

Given that I can remember having to choose between Tide, Omo, Persil or just plain Surf powder these new and exciting laundry products prove a great temptation for me.
Liquitabs, liquids, powders, pearls, some are ingenious, others are great value for money and then there are a few that border on sheer extravagance.

If I was in Milan and the Surf Small and Mighty bottle was on the catwalk it would surely have to be one of the leading models.
The neat white plastic bottle is lathered with ripe juicy lemons and bergamot, it is attractive, eye-catching and very shapely.

I am always slightly dubious about buying the concentrated laundry liquids, I want to see the soap dispenser in the washing machine look loaded and ready to remove the dirt and grime.
Adding just one small capful seems miserly.

The pale lemon liquid is thick and creamy and Unilver have ensured that it is bursting with the fresh citrus smell that is nothing short of gorgeous. Put the sharp smell of lemon and then introduce the bergamot ( an orange citrus fruit) into the equation and you would think that the two together would be too much but it works well.
Unilever have stated that the product endorses their cleaner planet plan, in short Surf Small and Mighty concentrate uses half of the water to produce, there is only half of the usual amount of packaging to dispose of and it costs less to transport due to size.

The Surf Small and Mighty liquid is quite aptly named, one capful copes well with washing a full load.
It removes marks and stains with ease, even on a low temperature wash. On the bottle it states that the liquid can be used with success in a cold water wash, I cannot comment on that, I prefer to use a warm wash. (30 degrees)

Once my load of washing had swirled around inside of the tub for half an hour or so the sweet smell of the Sunshine Lemons and Bergamot seemed to have waned.
Yes, the fragrance was still hanging on in there but I would have loved to have been able to still smell that very appealing scent a little bit stronger than it was.
Seeing that the UK has been experiencing nothing but rain, rain and more rain the washing had to be tumble-dried.

Once the laundry was dry and ready to iron I could only just pick out the faintest of smells though the fabric was soft and clean and easy to iron.
Unilever point out that the fragrance infuses your clothes, which it does to some extent but it does seem to fade quite quickly.

My one small bottle contains enough liquid for 20 washes, at the price that I paid that is economical.
The Surf Small and Mighty laundry liquid is good and I think that I am expecting miracles for one small capful of liquid to be able to keep an entire load of laundry smelling of sunshine lemons and bergamot until hours later.

The Surf Small and Mighty liquid was still a good buy, as promised it washes well, it removes marks and stains and although the fragrance fades far more quickly than I would like it is still pleasant at the end of the day.

If Unilever offer the product at a good price then I would buy it again but if I had to choose between a concentrate and a powder then I would choose the powder.
You can use a drop of the liquid for hand washing if you choose to.
I have used Surf many times and consider it to be gentle on both skin and fabric and considering that it has been on the market for many years then it must be a favourite of many.

Summary: A good quality concentrate.
