Lovely washing liquid (Surf Small & Mighty Tropical)

Advantages: Smells nice, good value, does a great wash

Disadvantages: can be a bit pricey unless you find it on special offer

We bought this bottle of Surf small and mighty washing liquid in Sainsbury's yesterday as it was on special offer at a good price of £3.67. It usually sells at nearer the £5 mark so was very good value for money.

The bottle was quite weighty to pick up as it contains 1470 ml of liquid. This is concentrated x 2 so is a very good amount to get for the price.

The packaging is nice to look at, on the front going across the bottom are some pretty pink flowers and above this are the words Surf small and mighty. Then underneath this is says with essential oils which makes it sound very nice. Under this it tells you the scent of the liquid which is tropical flowers and ylang ylang. At the top it tells you the liquid will do 42 washes which is quite a lot, if you do 3 washes a week like we do then expect it to last 14 weeks so at the price we paid it would cost just over 26p a week.

On the back of the bottle it tells you about the Cleaner Planet Plan It says that surf are doing their best to hep the environment and that this bottle of liquid being concentrated uses half the water to make it and half the volume of packaging as well. hence half the lorries to take it to the shops.

Then it has a small piece of writing in pink which sells you the item like the kind of words they say on an advertisement. It also tells you that one capfull is equal to 35 ml and is enough to do one wash.

Under this there is a table showing you how much to use for different washes Most of the washes only need one cap full and if you are doing hand wash it tells you to use half a capfull. If you are in a hard water area or if your washing is heavily soiled then use one and a half capfulls.

Under this it tells you the ingredients. 15% to 30% Anionic Surfactants, Non-ionic Surfactants. 5% to 15% soap. < 5% Perfume, Polycarboxylates, Phosphonates, Optical brighteners, Butylphenyl, Methylproprianol, Hexyl Cinnaml, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Enzymes, Eugenol, Amyl Cinnamal, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone.

Under this it tells you that the liquid works well even in cold water and then some cautions - keep away from children, Keep away from the eyes, Rinse hands after use, People with damaged or sensitive skin should avoid prolonged contact with the product.

When you open the bottle the lid which is a bright pink colour has a part inside it that slots inside the rim of the bottle and then the outer part that screws to the outside of the bottle. This is very handy as when you use the cap to pour out the right amount of liquid and then put the lid back on any liquid that was still in the cap would drain back into the bottle and not run down the side and make a mess.

The perfume of the liquid has a lovely smell to it and the liquid is quite thick to pour out.

In my machine I just pour the liquid into the drawer where I used to put washing powder and I usually wash most things on a 40% wash.

The washing I did today was a mixture of both coloured an whites but nothing that would run. The clothes all came out clean and smelled lovely. There was no residue left on any of the clothes like I used to sometimes get with powder or tablets.

I am very pleased with my purchase and would buy this again, hopefully it will be on offer in one of the shops.
