Advantages: Delicious smelling, really kind & soft on the skin, Brilliant cleanness.
Disadvantages: None
Everytime I go to the washing basket all I can think is 'How much washing'. Each time it manages to amaze me as there as only three people in my house. As soon as Scarlet Ela was born I went from doing two loads of washing a week to what felt like two loads of washing a day. When I was pregnant my sister warned me the washing would double but I didn't ever think I would have this much to do.
Unfortuanately when Scarlet baby was born she suffered with terrible Excema and as she has grown older it has not eased for her. Dairylea, Strawberries and being too hot set her off itching bless her. I never thought however that my washing powder would also make it worse for her too. We always avoid the foods that make her bad like the plauge and always ensure she is just the right temprature so when she was still just as itchy it took a while to realise it was the washing powder that made her worse.
Once a week my friend Caroline and I have a weekly shopping trip to Morrisons as I currently am unable to drive. What seemed like months and months of scouring the shelves for washing powder just made me frustrated. As every week I thought my poor baby girl will never be itch
free. It was quite disheartening that we were no closer to finding a powder that would not make her itch. Of course the Doctor was no help and just reffered her onto a sixteen month waiting list to see a dermatologist.
That is when I came across Surf with Essential Oils. I have been aware of this brand since I was a child as my mum used it on and off as I was growing up. But I was unaware they had this new essential oils range. I was a bit wary about using Oils with her delicate skin but I have since been amazed by how it has eased her itching. However, Each box gives you excatly the information that is needed such as how much to use in each area depending on water hardness, the ingredients used, what they are used for and the all important saftey notes. Which was a bit of a mind easer.
The range comes in two different colours of yellow and pink, both containing different oils for differnt uses. The Yellow containing sunshine lemons & Bergamot to infuse your clothes with uplifting fragrances. Bergamont Oil is also used for it's calming affect and refeshing smell.
The pink containing Tropical Flowers & Ylang Ylang to infuse your clothes with relaxing fragrances. Ylang Ylang is used again for a calming affect and to add a bit of 'mmmmm'and 'Aaaahh' to your laundry. Both of the different powders boasted a brilliant clean and brightness.
As the offer in Morrisons was buy two 950g boxes for £3.00 I thought I would try them both out. So into my trolly they went. As always when I got to Laundry day I was worried that my poor baby girl would be full of scratch marks and itchy redness by the next morning.
First I used the Yellow box. Mmmmmm what a lovely smell, as soon as opened the box I loved the lemony freshness that escaped. I followed the instructions and switched the machine on. Once finished I opened the door to a delicious lemon fragrance, which lasted throughout drying. Once the clothes were dry the smell was still amazing and was not too overbearing which was such a blessing as strong perfume items tend to give me a headache. As for the cleanness, the load was a brilliant white.
The ultimate test however was to try Scarlet out with them. I dressed her as usual the next morning and she found her clothes so soft she kept snuggling into her jumper. This can worry me just incase she gets itchy again but I just couldn't believe it when she was not red and sore
by lunchtime. YEAHY!! This one was a keeper.
Now to try out the pink.
I tried the this one on my next load of washing. Again the fragrance was delicious but I found this did not last long once the clothes had been dried. The result in washing though was just as good as the previous one I had tried and my whites were sparkly. However, this particular colour did not seem as fluffy and soft as the yellow so I was so worried when I put Scarlet in her clothes for the day. She didn't seem to snuggle in this jumper as much as the other wither. By lunch time though she wasn't red and itchy so it did exactly what I wanted them too.
I couldn't have asked for anything better. My baby girl was less itchy, we had a delicious smelling washing powder and it didn't matter how much chocolate she got on her clothes because we had a brilliant cleaner aswell. I was so happy and will be sticking to this make religiously
from now on.
As a mum I would certainly recommend Surf with Essentail Oils to anyone and gaurantee them they will never change again.
Summary: Every Mothers Saviour! Has certainly been mine!

- 06/09/09 Unfortunately the liquid version of this made my sons eczema terrible and we're now using three prescription creams to try and sort it out rather than just the one we used previously. Whether this will improve or worsen skin problems will differ between children and if someone is using a detergent that is not affecting a child's eczema I would not recommend changing to surf. |
