Advantages: picks up a little dust
Disadvantages: it is only a little dust....
Being a bloke who doesnt dust very often the poor swiffer cloth didnt know what had hit it when I set about cleaning my batchelor pad with it. OK so it does pick up the dust instead of just spreading it about the place, but it soon loses this capacity once a bit of dust is already on it. I needed to replece the cloths quite often to get it to keep hold of the dust. OK so there was quite a build up of dust but according to the TV advert it should be able to cope. I mean that woman on TV does an entire wooden floor with one cloth. I managed one shelf unit and it was done for. I used up all my cloths and just went back to the hoover with that bristly/furry attachment (what is it really for?). If you clean regularly or dont produce much dust then I can see that they are a good idea but they do get 'full' very quickly. Also in this throw away society that we live do we really need another product that is going to add to the amount of rubbish we produce. I thought we were supposed to be cutting down on these sorts of things. Bring back the feather duster and hoover is my suggestion. Dont be taken in by the adverytising gimmicks, we all had clean homes before the Swiffer cloth came along. (well most of us did!). Patch.

- 19/10/00 I rated useful because in my opinion Swiffer is utter crap, but your point in your last paragraph is excellent and I will think about it next time I am about to buy this type of product. |
