Tesco Laundry Gel 2 In 1 Lavender

Some items I can't compromise on in the supermarket, particularly when it comes to food products. However with toiletries and kitchen items I like to get good value for money and so decided to try Tesco's own Laundry Gel 2 In 1, in Lavender flavour.

The Pack

The laundry gel comes in a recyclable plastic container in much the same design as all laundry gels come in. The plastic is quite thick and oval in shape with a flat top and bottom to stand upright on. On the top is the lid which also doubles as the gel container during washes. The overall colour of the tub is white, with a purple sticker with lavender flowers on, to match the scent of the product.

The Tesco brand is on the label with huge '2 in 1' writing and 'Gel' also written, just so you're assured you're buying a gel! The lid of the container is also purple and the back again has a sticker with all the washing instructions and ingredients for the product. Down the side of the tub is a see through line that lets you keep track of how much gel you have left.

The Gel & Washing

On opening the container you can immediately smell the lavender scent; I personally find lavender a nice and refreshing fragrance, but I know that it can be quite strong and people can be put off by that. It is not too intense and after a wash again the scent is quite faint but noticeable. The gel is really thick and obviously bright purple in colour - which I like!

The cap of the product has two options for washing - a normal wash in which you fill the central circle of the cap with gel (approx. 35 ml), and a hard wash you add more of the product to the whole of the cap container (approx. 40 ml). Then you fill your machine as normal, add your softener and place the cap with the gel directly into the drum of the machine on top of your clothes.

I say add your softener, this is in fact a 2 in 1 gel and apparently softens and refreshes your clothes alone. However I like adding a bit more fragrance and an actual softener product to my washing. After washing the clothes smell faintly of lavender and most importantly of all are fresh and clean. I cannot find any faults with this product and I do not see any difference between this and the branded products, bar the great price tag.

The 630 ml bottle of this costs £2.19 at full price and this gives (approximately) 18 washes, great value when you often pay more than double this price for similar goods. Personally my favourite laundry products are liquid tabs, I find they give much more scent to my washes, however this is definitely one I will be buying again especially for the price.
