When it comes to cleaning my toilet I have to admit to being rather a fanatic. It isn't the cleanest of places lets face it due to what its used for! This I bought a while ago whilst doing my usual weekly shop in Tesco and it was on offer at the time for 80p a bottle or any two bottles from the range regardless of the fragrance for a pound which I thought was great value so of course got the two.

To be clear though I am not reviewing the 'Go Fresh' version of this and I was told to pop the review here for the original variety so here I am!

The Packaging:

This comes in a dark blue plastic bottle with a red twist and push safety cap to the the top of it and the neck is angled to use under a toilet rim. On the front of the bottle we are told that it is indeed Tesco Active Toilet Gel '100% Limescale Remover, Kills Bacteria, Stain Prevention Technology' then on the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a bit about the product and directions for use are given, lots of warnings are also given, the size is stated which in this case is 750ml and the only size I have ever seen this to purchase in by the way, ingredients are listed and finally contact details for Tesco are given. Nice enough and informative bottle this.

The Gel Itself:

To use this of course the idea is to use it in a toilet only and the bottle is designed to be easy to direct under a toilet rim and it is able to be used in septic tanks (whatever they are lol).

The gel is very runny in its consistency and dark blue in colour but transparent and it has a sort of bleach aroma to it which is very fresh and clean smelling. I do feel that they have tried to disguise the aroma of this with a sort of sea fresh fragrance but that doesn't work all that well and the main scent of this is bleach however I am happy enough with that considering that the product is used down my toilet after-all.

It is easy to direct under rim with no effort or hardship at all and runs out of the bottle with entire ease. We are told to apply it under the rim and leave it for 30 minutes at least and then to reapply it if need be and leave for a further 15 minutes to ensure that germs are killed and cleaned away.

I do this or sometimes just flush my toilet and give it a wipe and then squirt some of this under the rim and a bit into the toilet bowl overnight and this leaves my toilet sparkling clean and the aroma of the bleach lingers for a good few hours too. I can't vouch for the fact the it kills germs flat dead of course and am no scientist however I am sure that it is does this and it does leave my toilet looking really clean which is the main issue for me.

This did get rid of dark blackish limescale looking stuff and grime from under the toilet rim as well which was there from my flats last tenant and no more has reappeared since using this and all in all I think this is a good value product that I am more than happy to use from now on and the offer that is running at the moment makes this an even better, more economy buy too!
