With washing every day I am always on the look out for reasonably priced fabric softeners/conditioners to put in with my washing. My favoured brand is Lenor but saying that I only purchase it when there is a good deal or offer on it so if there isn't I will deviate after sniffing first at various other offerings in the store I am in!
At the time that I remembered I was running out of the fabric softener I was using I was in Tesco and spotted this product in various sized bottles and scents and chose to get this one and another (Golden Topaz) as usually they cost £2.00 each however they were on offer at the time I bought them at 2 bottles for £3.00 which I though was great value cos each bottle I bought contained a whopping 42 washes (so that is 84 washes for £3.00...bargain!).
The bottle this comes in is a nice bright pink colour with a matching screw on/off cap to the top of which doubles up as a measurer. On the front and on the back of the bottle we are clearly told what it is and who it is by and that it has 'Scent release luxurious 2 week freshness' and that as I have mentioned already my bottle contains 42 washes then other information on the sides of the bottle includes being told a bit about the product and being told how to use it , the ingredients are listed, the size is stated (in my case you get 1.47 Litres) and contact details for Tesco are clearly given. Nice looking bottle and easy to use it is.
Light pink and floral in its scent it is really, really nice. Although floral it isn't sickly or cloying and all you do is measure out the amount you need into the cap provided to which the instructions about how much you need are given clearly on the bottle and I basically use one cap per full load of washing.
This makes my home smell lovely in use and when I get my washing out it smells wonderful, fresh and clean and above all feels soft and conditioned.
Although once dried the fragrance does tame down somewhat (making the washing then smell quite unisex) it does still smell wonderful and makes my ironing easier (yes I iron everything!) and even though I store things like bedding and towels for longer than a couple of weeks I can still detect this lovely fragrance on my fabrics.
All in all I think this is a lovely, high quality fabric conditioner and one that I shall certainly purchase time and time again in the future!
Only available from Tesco, a bottle the size I am reviewing cost £2.00 at the moment.

Tesco Ambience Pink Diamond
I usually do my main supermarket shop at Tesco and so if I buy 'own brand' products they tend to be Tesco or sometimes Sainsbury's as they are my main places I shop.
I do check prices carefully as although we are not financially strapped I hate wasting money and nothing gives me more pleasure than finding a good bargain. By looking out for the pennies I have that bit extra to spend on things I really like and enjoy.
When doing the supermarket shop I carefully compare prices as sometimes the own brand stuff is more expensive when the branded products are on special. This means I spend a lot longer shopping but come out with lots of interesting new things as well as tried and tested regulars. I have a thing about nice smells so the areas that get my special attention are the toiletries, the laundry and the candles and air freshener aisles. I spend a good long time inspecting if there is anything new and then opening and sniffing the bottles to smell which one appeals to me most at the time.
I prefer Lenor to Comfort on the whole but do really like the Tesco Ambience range as well. I love the gold coloured Tesco one in this range but also buy this Pink Diamonds one too every now and then just for a change.
I can't imagine why they have called it anything to do with diamonds because as far as I am aware diamonds have no scent at all but maybe its the thought that diamonds are expensive and luxurious is supposed to make us think that this is also luxurious, who knows?
This comes in a pink coloured plastic bottle that looks pretty similar to the other fabric softeners in branded bottles. I buy the concentrated stuff as it is a bit thicker and so you need to use less and also I find the scent is stronger in the more concentrated bottles.
It smells heady and strong with a floral note to it but again it is hard to actually say what it smells like. Once in my wash the scent stays a good long time . As I open the machine when the cycle is complete the scent is strong and welcoming telling me my clothes are not only clean but smell fresh and lovely too.
As I hang them on the line I can smell the lovely smell too and also as I walk past tge washing on the line I can smell it as the clothes wave in the wind. I love the smell of newly washed clothes and linen that have been hanging outside and theta is the nicest way I find to dry them.
Sadly though we do have weather that makes this impossible at times and then I am left using the line over my boiler and clothes airers as well as hangers from the beams in our dining room. I try to spread the clothes out as crease free as possible to save ironing and usually using this fabric softener and hanging this carefully as well as folding them when putting them away saves me hours of ironing. Things that do need ironing require less when I use a fabric softener too.
I find that when I use a fabric softener that an synthetic clothes do not have any static which they can have sometimes if I don't use it.
I find a capful of this makes a whole wash smell good and if I am hand washing woollens and things I use a half capful as I do like my hand washing to feel soft as well. I then put then through a spin cycle before drying them inside our outside depending on the weather.
I always take a small bottle of this or some other fabric softener with us when travelling as it makes the clothes that I hand wash smell so much nicer than just using detergent. They not only smell better but they need no ironing which is great as often there is no iron in the hotel room anyway.
I find this fabric softener really efficient at all the things I want it for, less ironing, lovely scent, less static and also makes my clothes feel softer. I think it works just as well as the more expensive branded ones.
I love nice smells so tend to vary my fabric softeners as I get bored with the same scent all the time. This Tesco Ambience range with the Pink Diamonds and Gold Topaz is a really lovely smelling range and one I come back to regularly.
At the present time I have three bottles in my laundry stock, both of the Tesco Ambience ones that I mentioned and a Lenor Golden orchid one which is pretty similar to the Tesco Topaz one but I happened to have a voucher for the Lenor one last wee so bought a bottle of that as I like that one too.
I am just as as weird with the smells I choose for my detergent too and often buy one with inbuilt fabric softener and use fabric softener as well as I really do enjoy a lovely fresh smelling scented clean basket of laundry.
It even made my step son's thirty pairs ( well about fifty unmatched socks in reality) of smelly socks smell nice so it is obviously great stuff!
Obviously scents are a matter for individual choices so do like I do and open a few bottles to sniff before you buy and that way you won't have a nasty surprise when adding it to your wash as there is nothing worse than having all your clean clothes smelling of a scent you hate.

As I've previously said, I'm not what you'd call brand loyal and as no-one in my household has sensitive skin or allergies I have used most laundry products currently on the market and I am currently using Tesco's Pink Diamond concentrated fabric conditioner, from their Ambience collection, 42 wash bottle for my washing.
Tesco's Ambience Pink Diamond concentrated fabric conditioner comes in a bright pink opaque boxy shaped bottle with a purple screw top cap. The front of the bottle has a pink flower on the bottom right and a white/light pink flower on the top left which contains the name "Tesco Ambience Pink Diamond" in pink writing and the number of washes the product is expected to last for in printed on the front of the bottle on the bottom left hand side. The back of the product has the same two flowers from the front of the bottle but they have been reversed with the pink flower on the top left and the white/light pink on the bottom right. Within the white/light pink flower on the back of the bottle there is the following message "Immerse your senses with the Ambience collection from Tesco Discover a world of gorgeous fragrances & luxurious softness". The usual directions for use, ingredients and warnings are listed on the sides of the bottle. The product is light pink in colour, creamy and very fragrant. I can't quite put my finger on what flower this smells like but it is a floral scent.
The product comes in two sizes a 21 wash (750ml) and 42 washes (1.47l) which are both currently on offer for £1 for the smaller bottle and £2 for the bigger bottle but are usually £1.60 and £2.30 respectively.
I'm currently about two thirds of my way through using my first bottle of this product and have no complaints at all. My clothes came out of the washing machine with a lovely floral scent and whilst the scent lessens after drying my clothes still smell floral and fresh. Also the clothes feel soft but not overly and the scent stays on the clothes all day. I would definitely buy this product again and would recommend the product to anyone who likes floral scented products.
Whilst I will always purchase laundry washing products containing softeners I always favour using an additional softening product, particularly as I love my clothes and bedding to offer a beautiful fragrance. I would normally purchase Lenor, but the prices seem to have dramatically increased and in a bid to reduce our ever growing weekly shopping bill I decided to purchase Tesco own brand named Ambience Pink Diamond and this review discusses my experience with using it.
~~ Appearance of the product ~~
It is a shame that Dooyoo have not provided an image as it was the appearance of the fabric conditioner that caught my eye with its' bright cerise coloured packaging and a beautiful image of a deep pink coloured flower. I was initially a little dubious about the fragrance, which I presumed to be feminine, as I didn't want my husband complaining about sleeping in girlie smelling bedding or his clothes being highly perfumed. I unscrewed the lid whilst in Tesco and took a sniff and initially the conditioner seemed rather overpowering, but from previous experience of similar products I was aware that this would weaken once the laundry had been rinsed in the washing machine. I would describe the aroma as similar to that of an orchid with its' deep and very luxurious aroma which is suited to both men and women. The sturdy plastic bottle contains 750 ml of concentrated fabric conditioner and we are advised that this is sufficient for 21 washes.
~~ Using the fabric conditioner ~~
The side of the bottle provides information on dosages and for obvious reasons I do not intend listing them all. However, the good consistency pink coloured conditioner is suitable for both machine and hand washing and whilst I initially used the recommended dosage when I first purchased the product I now use slightly less and am able to achieve identical results.
~~ The results ~~
I am unable to speak of the results with regards hand washing as this is not a task I undertake, but when removing my laundry from the machine I am immediately greeted by the most luxurious and gorgeous scent. The conditioner does not cause any residue or build up on my laundry and whilst the aroma fades once the washing is dry, the beautiful fragrance is still evident although it is much more subtle. My laundry is always left feeling silky soft and even my husband has commented on how he likes the smell, which is unusual for him as normally he just turns his nose up!
~~ Ingredients and other information ~~
I do not believe in copying long lists of ingredients into my reviews and would advise that the product did not cause any irritation to my skin. The bottle should be stored in a cool place and can be recycled once empty. There is a little information on the side of the bottle stating that Tesco cannot guarantee that this product would be suitable for those suffering with sensitive skin.
~~ Price ~~
I have checked on Tesco website to find a current price and for some reason the 750 ml bottle is not listed, but I'm sure it retails for around £1.40. However, until 29 December 2011 you can purchase the 1.47 litre bottle for £2 after which it will return to its' normal price of £2.30.
Tesco Ambience Pink Diamond receives 5 stars from me as it is a high quality fabric conditioner and I will be stocking up now I am aware of the current offer.
I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
When it comes to doing laundry I have to admit it isn't a favourite job of mine but I do like to use products which actually deliver the job they promise. When washing clothes or other items separate from my daughter's I like to use a scented fabric conditioner as I like a perfumed scent on my clothes or bed linen but so far I am still unable to find a fabric conditioner which can last!
Recently whilst shopping in Tesco I opted for Tesco Ambience Pink Diamond. It was on offer (I bought another variety) and I decided to give it a go. It is amazing how manufacturers are trying to glam up the washing of clothes with their inventive varieties of fabric conditioners! I chose Pink Diamond mainly because I was intrigued by what pink diamonds would actually smell of!
Pink Diamonds comes in a bright fuchsia rectangular bottle. The bottle isn't transparent so you can't see the contents. It has a colour matching screw on top which can also be used to measure the liquid. The front label features the Tesco logo together with a large image of a deep pink flower. There is also another image of a white flower which features the 'Ambience' wording which is the range in which Pink Diamonds belongs. On the back there is an ingredients list together with usage directions.
On opening the bottle you get an instant floral aroma which is sweet yet light and airy which I found really nice it isn't too strong but it certainly doesn't disappear easily. The fabric conditioner is a gorgeous shade of candy pink which is obviously in keeping of the Pink Diamonds theme. Its consistency is quite thin but not as thin as water if that makes sense, it has a little body to it and reminds me of the same consistency of the full fat jersey milk!
I've now used half of my bottle and so far I am really impressed. I generally wash towels, bed linen and mine and my partners clothes in this so it does have a variety of textures to get through and everytime I open the front of my washing machine I get an instant smell of this floral fragrance which is always a great start. At the moment all of my washing is put on the line which I prefer as I love that fresh smell you get. After my washing is dry I of course smell it to see if the fragrance is still there and I am pleased to say it is. Although it isn't very strong it is there subtly which is perfectly fine by me.
However, and here is the but! I find that my clothes don't retain the fragrance as much as say my towels or bed linen which are put into the airing cupboard and when I make my bed the floral aroma is far more evident than say on my jeans or t-shirts.
Occasionally if the weather is bad I do hang my clothes on the airer or radiators if there is no room and I find the heat enhances the aroma and the aroma lasts a lot longer than if they are naturally dried outside so I wonder if there is something in the ingredients which reacts with heat. If anyone has an answer to this please let me know!
As I said above I have used around half of the bottle (a little unsure as I can't see through the bottle!) and I find that apart from my clothes being clean but they are left soft weather dried naturally outside or on the radiator. Sometimes I find that towels for instance become hard but with this fabric conditioner my clothes, towels and bed linen feels as if it has gone through a tumble drier which is great. Everything is soft and smells nice!
I probably should mention how to use the fabric conditioner and now I know I shouldn't have to but some conditioners can go in the drum with the clothes but for Pink Diamond it does need to go into your washing machine draw in the compartment for conditioner and not in with your washing powder or tablet. The instructions are clear on the back of the bottle as to how much you need to use but from personal experience you don't need a lot to get a lovely fragrance on your items or to get soft clothing.
Now I do have slightly sensitive skin and sometimes can react with over perfumed products but I haven't had any irritation from this fabric conditioner whatsoever which is great but I do use a little less per wash than recommended. Now if you have very sensitive skin then I would recommend that you steer clear as it is highly perfumed.
This is definitely a fabric conditioner which I like using and I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting their items fragranced lightly. I'd give Pink Diamonds 4 stars as I would like the conditioner a little thicker so a bottle would last that little bit longer but that is me being ultra fussy!
Availability: Tesco only
Sizes: 1.5 litres or 750ml
Prices: £2.30 or £1.60
I honestly don't think manufacturers know where to go next with fabric conditioner. What with "ruby" this and "diamond" that, its like they are trying to make doing the laundry glamorous. The latest one I've tried was Pink Diamond from the Tesco Ambience range. I must admit I chose this one purely because of the lovely fuchsia pink/purple bottle and the pretty pink label with flowers on it.
When I bought my bottle it cost £2.30 for a 1.47litre bottle, however they are currently on a 2 for £3.50 offer.
The bottle has a plastic label around it which is mainly bright pink with a white and pink flower on it. It tells the customer that it is Ambience Pink Diamond( what are diamonds supposed to smell like anyway?) and it has scent release. This size bottle is enough to do 42 washes.
The back of the label is very similar to the front, the instructions for use, directions and ingredients are printed on the sides. The dosage is pretty usual for fabric conditioner, 1 capful for 1 normal wash. The screw top lid doubles as the measure as with all softeners.
The fabric conditioner is a lovely pale pink colour, and smells definitely floral. Its quite a strong fragrance but not overpowering.
The first time I used it I was very pleased. My washing came out of the machine smelling lovely, like fresh flowers. I was really impressed, my towels felt so soft. I should say at this point that this particular load of washing was just towels and as it was a windy day and actually dry I hung them on the line outside.
The next load I did was clothes and I wasn't able to dry them outside so, having no tumble drier I had to drape them over the radiators. This was when I started to slightly go off the fabric softener. As the heat from the radiator warmed the clothes it bought the floral scent of the fabric softener out. At first it was very nice, getting my washing dry and my room fragranced at the same time, but after about 10minuets the smell was so strong I could almost taste it! It was un bearable and was rapidly giving me a headache.
This aside once the washing is dry this softener does leave the washing feeling incredibly soft and as the smell had faded by this point it does actually smell really good too.
The laundry smells nice for a couple of days, particularly sheets and towels.
I'm torn as to weather I would recommend this or not. As a fabric conditioner its great. My laundry felt soft and once dry it smelt fresh and floral. However, if you have to dry your washing indoors you may, like me, find it rather strong and over bearing which is a shame because basically it does what its suppose to do very well.
In my opinion its one to use in summertime.
