Advantages: It cleans 99.9% of germs

Disadvantages: It is unsafe for pets and humans alike if spray is breathed

I received this product as a substitution when doing my regular weekly shop online with Tesco as my usual product was unavailable. I was quite disappointed at first because usually when I find a product I like I will stick to it. I usually use dettol anti bacterial spray because it kills 99% of bacteria and I think it cleans very effectively and without leaving a strong odour. So my substituted product had alot to live up to.

Firstly the packaging;

The bottle itself is clear and made from plastic so it is easy to recycle once finished. It has a pale blue screw top with trigger attached with the words on and off clearly marked on the nozzle making it safe to shut off whilst not in use and protect children and against accidental spillages in cupboards. The label on the front shows a chopping board and some cucumber sliced on it allowing you the consumer to perceive it is safe to use on a variety of kitchen surfaces, although I am aware the label clearly displayed in the picture above is not the label on the current product.

Product uses;

I use my usual product on a variety of surfaces and so I used this product in exactly the same way firstly cleaning up a juice spillage on the kitchen worktop, one spray and wipe away with a clean cloth/sponge. It did what I expected it came out in a fine mist and effectively removed the purple blackcurrant juice stain of off the worktop however, I did not expect the very strong odour that came with it. It was extrememly strong and I found it got in the back of my throat and me cough involuntary. I was not impressed.

You can use the product on all kitchen work surfaces, chopping boards, cooker tops, sinks, cupboard fronts dependant on your cupboard type, it also states on the bottle it can be used for effective cleaning in bathrooms and in a nursery. I used the product on the sink and I did as it said sprayed, wiped and dried with a clean cloth, no problems here. This product makes two claims on the front of the product label;

Kills 99.9% of bacteria

Non tainting

However, when I came to use it on my stainless steel hob I thought I had wiped it clean and polished it dry to achieve a high sheen as usual but on closer inspection after about half an hour (when I returned to the kitchen) I noticed it looked tainted and smeered, I was very disappointed and took to doing the task again. It did come up better but I feel cheated by a product that claims to do what my usual product claims but leaves you choking on its very strong and unpleasant smell and leaves your shiny steel surfaces tainted something it claims on the front of the products label it does not do.

I like that after using the product on kitchen surfaces and wiping you can allow the surfaces to air dry, which not only save a little time( granted not much ) but, also practically germ free. However, I was shocked to read on the label on the reverse of the product in the warning section no less that this product is not safe for pets especially cats!!! As a cat owner I read on, it states if you wipe a surface you must dry it before the cat comes into contact with it and not allow the cats to lick the surfaces that have just been sprayed!! I have ofcourse since then been very careful, but I would just like to point out that the warning label is in very small print, it is almost like they do not want people to read it. As I expected to read though it does state do not breathe product, okay how long can you hold your breath?

Product ingredients;

Non-ionic Surfactants Less than 5%
Disinfectant, Perfume,Limonene.

Price wise;

It represents value for money at 88 pence for 500ml, it is almost half of the price I would pay for my original cleaner, but would I buy it again? In a word NO. I don't like that it leaves streaks, and I certainly don't appreciate the odour which is harmful not only to me (should you breathe in the spray) but my pets too.

As with all Tesco products they offer their no quibble return or refund promise, which in hindsight I wish I had taken advantage of. This product is certainly not one I would recommend, although it does not represent the vast array of good own brand products that on the whole Tesco does.

Summary: A product for people with little surfaces to clean and the lung capacity of a deep sea diver!!

Better than recycling the bottle is to offer refills, I think.
