Advantages: Effective and antibacterial

Disadvantages: Probably bad for the environment

Some people give the place in which they live a light clean on a daily basis, whilst others go for an extreme clean less frequently. I undertake the latter option, and every so often, when the moon aligns with Jupiter, every surface gets wiped, the bed gets pulled out and cleaned under, and even the curtains get a good hoovering. In recent years, this infrequent but thorough ritual has been helped along by a selection of wipes, each designed for different things... I've used window wipes, floor wipes, wood wipes, the lot - so I know which ones are good, and which ones aren't. It did occur to me that using loads of wipes is probably not the most environmentally friendly thing to do, with all that excess packaging and waste. Therefore, being the green-minded person that I am, I decided to cut down my wipe usage to a minimum - however, one wipe still remains... Tesco's excellent 'Anti-bacterial Multi Action'.

Costing £1.80 for the large 120 pack, these particular wipes represent great value for money, considering the big-brand Flash alternative retail at £1.98 for half the amount.

Housed in a yellow re-sealable packet to stop them from drying out, the moist little cleaners are supposed to kill 99.9% of bacteria including E.coli, Listeria and Salmonella - all the nasties which you wouldn't want infesting your bedroom.

After dusting, I use the wipes on a variety of surfaces, and they work especially well on my wood floor without leaving streaks. The smell is lemony and reassuringly clinical, and the anti-bacterial element gives you peace of mind, especially if you have a cat or dog as a housemate.

The fabric that each wipe is made from is fairly tough, and won't rip when you use them - unless you're cleaning a chandelier made from razor blades - but who has got one of those, they're so last season.

I suppose if you wanted to reuse each one, you could give it a quick rinse under the tap, although obviously doing this will also wash of the cleaning fluid and antibacterial agents.

In conclusion, I would recommend buying these Tesco wipes, as they would appear to be on a par with the more expensive Flash ones. They do the job effectively and smell nice at the same time, what more could you ask for!? :)

Summary: Cheap and reliable wipes

And here's me thinking I was weird for hoovering my curtains. Great review, I'll certainly be testing out these fantastic wipes for myself.
