Advantages: Cheap, smell nice, work well

Disadvantages: None for me

I have recently started using anti bacterial wipes - I will go into how and why I use them later - and am always on the lookout for a bargain.

Whilst sorting out my Tesco order I noticed that they do their own brand and they were reduced from 89p to 79p for a pack so I decided to try them.

The Product

The full name of this product is Tesco Anti Bacterial Multi Action Wipes with natural citrus extracts.

The Packaging

The wipes come in a bright yellow packet with the name of the product on the front together with a picture of a dish of lemons. The information on the front of the packet tells us that the wipes will kill 99.9% of bacteria including E coli, Listeria and Salmonella.

On the back of the packet the information tells us that these wipes are useful for 'effective hygienic cleaning' and that they have been dermatologically tested. There are also directions for use of the wipes, warnings and a list of the active ingredients.

The Wipes

The wipes themselves are almost like soft cloth and they smell really nice and lemony. They come out as a single small wipe or as two of these joined together by perforations to make one large wipe. I find that using two as one large wipe is easier for me to grip and use effectively.

The Use

To remove a wipe from the packet you just peel back the cover on the front of the packet, remove a wipe and then reseal the cover to keep the remaining wipes moist.

The directions for use on the packet tell us to 'wipe the surface vigorously removing all traces of soiling' and then to 'leave to air dry' repeating the process if necessary.

How I Use These

Warning - some people might find this a bit yukky!

As most of you know we have a beautiful cat called Mew. He has a room on the side of the house which was a small sun room when we moved in. It has a door to the outside and another into the kitchen. When Mew is outside the cat flap in the outside door is left open but the door to the kitchen is closed.

We keep the kitchen door shut because he is a hunter and will often catch mice, birds etc and then bring them home to eat them. I don't mind him killing things when he is going to eat them but if he starts killing just for fun I shall make him wear a bell round his neck and put a stop to it!

Anyway, when he does kill something and eat it, he never eats the bowel (cats don't apparently) so I often go into his room to find a bowel on the floor! I use a cheap nappy bag to pick it up and dispose of it and then use one of the wipes to make sure that the carpet is clean.

How Good Are They?

Well I haven't used them for cleaning work surfaces so I can't comment on their usefulness in that respect although I have no reason to suspect that they would be anything other than successful.

For cleaning the carpet or floor after clearing up Mew's leftovers they are great! The carpet is clean after a quick rub with the wipe and they leave a nice lemony smell in the air too.

The Warnings

Oh dear - I have just read the warnings to find that these wipes should not be used on carpets! Oops! Oh well it won't matter in this case as it is only a cheap carpet in a room that doesn't matter but I shall remember not to use it on carpets anywhere else in the house. To be fair I haven't noticed any problems - the carpet just looked and smelled clean when I had finished so I don't actually see a problem.

The other warnings are to wear gloves if you have sensitive skin, not to use to clean skin and to keep away for the eyes.

You are also reminded not to dispose of these wipes down the toilet.

Conclusion

I would definitely recommend these wipes and I intend to buy them again. At 89p for 80 small or 40 larger wipes you can't go wrong can you?

Incidentally I also found out in my investigations for the writing of this review that these wipes are not tested on animals by or for Tesco so that's good too.

Summary: A great way to clean up after Mew
