I love things that make my home smell nice and my favourite way to do this with scented wax but I have so many pretty glass bowls and dishes I decided to get some pot pourri to use, particularly in my porch where I cant leave a candle burning. I particularly like my porch area to smell nice so when we come in we are greeted by a nice smell rather than old cooking smells which seem to gather and stay in there. Its also nice when we open the door to family or friends that they are greeted with a nice waft of fragrance.
The Pot Pourri I am using at the moment is from Tesco, its Damson & Pomegranate, there are other fragrances available but I chose this one partially because of the colour, I have to have everything colour co-ordinated. This is described as red on the Tesco website but personally I would say this is a dark purple/ pink colour.
The Pot Pourri is sold in a clear plastic box allowing you to see what you are getting. There is a card insert inside the box which informs the customer that these are Pot Pourri Balls which have been infused with damson and pomegranate to give your room a rich fruity aroma. Other than a small label stuck to the back of the box giving a few warnings and the direction for use there is no other information on the packaging at all.
The box is easy to open with the use of a small tab on the top, this can also be used to reseal the box if you don't use all the contents in one go.
As soon as I opened the box I could immediately smell the lovely fruity aroma, I cant say it smelt particularly of damson or pomegranate it was just a lovely fruity smell. The boxes contents are described on the web site as dried botanicals, and what I actually got was 8 large balls, some with an open woven design others solid, the rest of the pot pourri was smaller balls and little bits and pieces, all in really pretty shades of dark and light purple and shades of pink.
The box had no weight written on it but I got enough pot pourri to fill 2 large dinner plate sized shallow bowls.
As I mentioned I wanted the pot pourri for my porch and its now been in there for just over 3 weeks and is still smelling lovely. Every time I go in the door I get a lovely waft of fruity fragrance which smells clean and welcoming. The smell is in no way overpowering and for a small area is ideal.
In my opinion a porch or small room would be ideal for this, I personally think the fragrance has remained strong in my porch because its a small area that is closed up most of the while, I don't think this would be very successful in a larger room that people were in and out of all the time. I think the fragrance would soon fade and disappear.
All in all I've been pleased with my Damson and Pomegranate Pot Pourri, it cost me just £4.00 and has kept my porch smelling fresh and lovely, the only downside to pot pourri is it does get dusty after a while, this aside though I would definitely recommend this one from Tesco.
