Tesco Ironing Water
I can't think there will be many of you reading this who have managed to avoid seeing those awful Comfort Vaporesse adverts on TV. I was intrigued by the idea of ironing water and initially bought the comfort one to try. I was very happy with that product but when I saw that Tesco did their own version at a lot less money I decided to give their version a try.

Comfort is selling for £1.27 per litre compared with Tesco's own version at 89p per litre which is quite a saving for just one product and I wish I could save that much with other things I buy regularly. Tesco make two different scents, one is Spring Petals and the other is Fresh Linen. The Spring Petals comes in a pinkish tone and the bottle has a pink lid and transparent plastic pink bottle. The Fresh linen is pretty much the same but with a blue tone rather than a pink. The spring petals version has a picture of a big pink flower on the front while the linen fresh has a picture of a large daisy on the front. They do look pretty similar to the Comfort ones and are almost a copy.

Why do you use this? Well I know I could use distilled water but as I would have to go somewhere special to buy this and it would probably work out a pretty similar price I feel that anything that makes ironing more pleasant has to be a good thing. Using this in my iron makes the steam coming out smell really lovely and does impart a bit of scent into the clothes too.

The screw top is see through but under this is a further lid section in either pink or blue and this has a pouring spout to help aim the liquid into the iron's reservoir. The first time I bought this I unscrewed the lid and the whole thing came off so it is useful to know there is a spout.

On the bottle we find this useful piece of information , "Tesco Ironing Water contains amongst other ingredients less than 5% Methylchloroisothiazolinone,Methylisothiazolinone ,Fragrance." I am not sure why this particular chemical information is given but maybe the rest if just distilled water and that makes the different scents.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH IT?
I just take off the outer lid and using the spout simply pour it into the water reservoir and then turn it onto steam as usual. I like both of these scents and alternate them to give me a change. The spring petals version smells very light and fresh and flowery and is quite strong while Fresh Linen one is a lot less strong and really smells like washing that has been dried on the line outside.

Because the iron steams I find that the scent of my ironing fills the house. Also if there is any water left in the iron when I have finished then because the iron stays hot for a while, the place where I keep the iron on its metal storage hanger also smells lovely as the iron acts as a scented vapour unit.

Although this makes ironing more pleasant and does a great job of not making my iron get full of limescale I can't say that it is obviously noticeable on my clothes after the first initial few minutes. I certainly wouldn't say that my wardrobe is full of the smell of fresh ironing but it does smell of clean clothes so maybe it does do something subtle.

I wouldn't buy this to use in order to freshen my clothes but as I have to buy some sort of water to put in my iron it may as well be something that smells lovely and makes the room smell nice.

All in all for the price that it is in Tesco, and remember this is a Tesco branded product so only available in Tesco stores, this is a great buy and a product that makes my job of ironing a more pleasant smelling activity.

The bottle is plastic and can be recycled wherever you recycle plastic bottles usually.
