Now toilet tissue is not the nicest item to write a review about but it is something that we all use every day so I think it is important to share my views. I do tend to mostly purchase branded toilet tissue but when I cannot find any on a good special offer then I opt for stores own brands to save a bit of money. As Tesco is my closest store and I was recently running low on toilet tissue I popped along to my Tesco express store and purchased a two roll pack of the Tesco luxury soft white toilet tissue.

The two roll pack is currently priced at £1.20 in my local Tesco express store. The same toilet tissue can also be purchased in a 4 roll pack and larger packs. I was a little surprised at the cost as it is not much cheaper than the branded toilet tissues.

The toilet rolls come quite tightly packed in a thin plastic wrapper that is a pale blue/lilac colour. On the front of the pack there is a statement that says that the toilet tissue is 'as soft and strong as the leading brand'. By the leading brand it explains on the back of the packet that they are referring to Andrex here.

The rolls of toilet tissue themselves look exactly like any other really with the tissue wrapped around its cardboard tube. The tissue is a nice bright white colour, is two ply and is easy to unroll and tear off via the perforations between sheets.

With the big, bold claims on the front of the packet about the softness of this toilet tissue I was expecting it to be of very good quality. But sadly I was rather disappointed, although the toilet tissue does seem quite strong and does the job in that sense very well I was not impressed by the softness or lack of it. I would not say this is the roughest toilet tissue I have used, the one that my work place provides seems to win that competition but it was far from what I was expecting. Even to touch the toilet tissue it seems fairly rough and not at all as soft and smooth as some of the leading brands, and I am not sure how they can call it 'luxury'!

Overall I would not say that this is not awful toilet tissue and if needed I would purchase it again in an emergency but it will certainly not take over as my favourite brand.
