Advantages: Smells nice, works well, doesn't irritate, good price
Disadvantages: The smell doesn't last as long as some of the others
I have to use non biological fabric conditioner as my husband has sensitive skin, bless him! He suffers from eczema which flares up if anything irritates his skin so I do try to be careful on his behalf and I always buy the non bio washing liquid and conditioners.
I admit that I don't buy the same ones all the while and tend to alternate between Tesco's own brand, Fairy, Lenor and Comfort according to which is the cheapest on the day. If there are no special offers available this is always Tesco's own brand but the others can be cheaper if there's a BOGOF or similar offer.
The one that I have just finished using is Tesco Pure Concentrated Fabric Softener and it currently sells for £1.79 for a 1.5 litre bottle or 98p for a 750ml bottle. The ordinary (not concentrated) Tesco fabric conditioner is currently 98p for 2 litres but obviously won't last as long as you would need to use more per wash.
Continuing on that theme for a moment the concentrated fabric softeners work out at roughly the same cost per wash as the non concentrated ones but take up less packaging and thus less room in your cupboard and also take up less room per item in the transportation lorries thereby reducing pollution theoretically.
The product comes in a clear plastic bottle which is an extended oblong shape and thus fits on my shelf more easily than the strange shaped bottles that some of these products come in!
The front of the bottle has a white label with the words 'Tesco Pure Guaranteed Freshness Concentrated' together with a picture of a baby peeping out from beneath a white hooded towel. We are also told that this will last for 42 washes although I confess that I have never counted to check this fact! Even I am not that sad!
The whole thing is very pale and light and gives the subliminal message that this product is indeed 'pure'. This effect is compounded by the fact that the conditioner itself is a pearly white in colour.
The instructions on the side of the bottle say that we should use one and a half capfuls of this liquid for a large load, one capful for a standard load and half a capful for hand washing. A capful of the liquid measures 36ml. I must say that I don't actually measure the amount that I use - I just pour what looks the right amount into the dispenser drawer and this seems to work.
I do like the smell of this conditioner although it's nothing unusual. It's sweet and flowery but fresh and light at the same time. The fragrance wafts around the house as the washing dries although it doesn't remain in the fabric quite as much as the more expensive ones do. The washing does feel nice and soft when it is dry and aired though.
In conclusion this is an effective, fragrant fabric softener that softens the washing and does not irritate hubby's skin and best of all it is almost always going to be the best price in the shop! What more do you want?
Summary: A great non biological fabric softener
