Tesco Pure Concentrated Fabric Softener
Advantages: gentle, price, scent
Disadvantages: thin consistency
Tesco offer a range of own branded fabric conditioners which work out a little cheaper than branded conditioners such as Comfort and Lenor.
~Pure Fabric Conditioner~
Whilst many of the Tesco condtioners are regular, scented conditioners, they offer a 'Pure' version which is perfect for those with sensitive skin and most importantly - babies!
The Pure fabric conditioner is concentrated so only a small amount is required per load of washing. The actual conditioner is presented in a clear bottle which is the perfect size to fit neatly under the sink. The bottle has a clean white label showing a baby wrapped up in a towel and the lid doubles up as a measuring cup to ensure you put the correct amount of fabric conditioner in the washing machine drawer.
This fabric conditioner hasn't been tested on animals. It is however, dermatologically tested to be ideal for sensitive skin. This conditioner is suitable for machine and hand washing. It is recommended that 1 cap (approx 35ml) is suitable for a regular load of washing. Extra can be added for bigger loads.
This fabric conditioner is available in a 750ml sized bottle which is said to offer 21 washes (based on normal loads). It can be purchased in store or online from www.tesco.com. It is priced at £1.20. A 1.5l bottle is also available priced at £1.80 and is part of a 2 for £3.50 offer.
I normally stick with Comfort or Lenor when it comes to buying fabric conditioners but I have been quite surprised by the offerings from Asda and Tesco recently. I normally go for conditioners which leave my clothing smelling lovely when washed. When it comes to washing my sons clothing, I prefer to use something a bit gentler. I picked up this Tesco Pure conditioner purely based on the price. I have previously used the Comfort version (double the price) and honestly can notice any major difference between both the products.
This conditioner is white in colour and is very thin in consistency. My initial thoughts were that the conditioner may not have been as 'concentrated' as Tesco made it out to be - it is milky. In the bottle, the conditioner as a subtle yet pleasant scent which makes me think of baby powder! It is lovely and fresh and doesn't overpower like the more fragrant conditioners.
I do several loads of washing per week. I have mainly used this for my sons clothing and bed sheets but it has also been used for my clothing and towels recently after I found the powder I was using to be a little too strong for my skin. The conditioner flows effortlessly from the bottle. I don't tend to measure it in the cup to be honest and simply pour and adequate amount into the middle part of the drawer on my washing machine.
I don't notice a surge of scent coming from the machine during the wash but when the clothing is removed, there is a delicate, powdery fresh aroma on the laundry. I hang the laundry out to dry or dry over the clothes horse. Clothes have a pleasant softness about them - perhaps not quite as soft as when using Comfort but decent enough for us. I really like the feel of the towels and bed sheets after using this conditioner. The towels are always nice and fluffy and lovely to use after a hot shower.
The clothes smell fresh and clean but the actual scent fades quite quickly. I put all the laundry away and even after a week or so in the drawer or wardrobe, the laundry still smells fresh but not scented if that makes sense. The most important aspect of this conditioner is how gentle it is on the skin. Neither myself, partner or son have experienced any irritation from using this conditioner. We all have sensitive skin and clothing, towels and bed sheets feel very gentle against the skin when this conditioner has been used during the washing process. No complaints with kindness to skin here at all.
Whilst I do love my scented fabric conditioners, Pure is perfect for being kind to sensitive skin. It performs well and does its intended job. I manage to get about 20 loads or so from my bottle and at just over £1.00 per bottle, I feel this represents excellent value for money. It is perfect for all the family to use.
5 stars - recommended!
