Tesco Tumble Dryer Sheets:

Living in a second floor flat makes drying my clothes difficult; I have a washing line but who wants to carry a basket full of heavy, wet clothes down two flights of concrete stairs? Instead I rely on my tumble dryer to dry larger items such as bedding and towels, (the rest get dried on a washing line in my bathroom).

I find that a lot of the time everything sticks together and this means the outer parts start to over heat, (my tumble dryer is ancient and the thermostat either doesn't exist or doesn't work), and the inside bits stay damp. I decided I needed to fork out for a packet of "Bounce" but was dreading it as the price is ridiculous, (£3.47 for 40 sheets). Well to say I was pleased to see the Tesco own brand at 96p a box is an understatement so into the trolley they went!

The box the sheets come in is quite well designed for the job; it is a rectangular box with a "lid" on the front so you can open up a big flap to remove the sheets but then seal it up again once you are finished. This is great because it helps to stop the sheets drying out which would make them pretty much useless. It's also quite pretty too with lot's of flowers decorating the sky blue box.

Inside you get 40 little white sheets of what seems like a cross between J-Cloth fabric and kitchen roll. Each sheets is impregnated with oily fabric softener which helps to soften the fabric of your clothes/bedding etc and to help reduce static meaning that the stuff in your dryer doesn't stick together.

The smell is nice and fresh; it smells like fabric softener but it is a nice none-the-less. I must admit I cannot work out for the life of me what it actually smells of but I would agree that it is a little summery. The smell is not so strong that men wouldn't want to wear the clothes after!

Now Tesco don't claim that these make drying your clothes quicker, (they claim less creases, less static and improved softness), but I have definitely noticed a reduced drying time when I use these sheets. I was amazed the first time I used them! My towels came out soft and fluffy with no reduction in their drying ability, (some-times over softened towels don't dry you as well), and my bedding was softer and a lot less creased which made my bed look even more inviting!

The box warns of greasy spots if you use excessive heat or over the load the dryer but I am guilty of both of these things, (no thermostat, tiny drum), and I have not noticed any greasy spots on anything.

For 96p for 40 sheets these are great value. I only use my dryer about twice a week which means a box of 40 will last me around 5-6 months! This product has to be one of the best value own brand products I have ever purchased and they make doing laundry a lot less work too! I would recommend these to anyone with a tumble dryer.
