Tesco Thick Bleach 24 Hour Pink
Advantages: Cleans really well, cheap
Disadvantages: Mis advertised! The bottles pink, but the bleach isnt!
I have only recently started using bleach around the house, before hand I had a huge variety of different cleaning products for different jobs. But a few weeks back I bought a mop and bucket, sick of having to clean all the downstairs floors on my hands and knees with my floor wipes. We then needed some bleach!
I am not your typical girly girl, but sometimes when something pink catches my eye, I cant resist! Tescos do a variety of their own bleaches, but I just had to have this pink bottle, and at just 60p for a 750ml bottle, its a pretty decent price.
The bottle itself is a deep pink, with a red security lid that prevents children getting in, which is a most with bleach. The neck of the bottle is angled, making it easy to use in toilets, too.
The front label tells us it does what pretty much all bleach bottles say - 'Kills germs and bacteria dead'.
The back label gives us details on how to use the bleach for our various needs, and how to undo and redo the safety lid. It also very clearly states all the warnings that are needed on a bleach bottle - that it contains dangerous chemicals, releases dangerous chlorine gases, not suitable for dterilising baby equipment and so on.
My first job, was cleaning my floors. I had already filled my new mop bucket up with warm water, and wanted to add the bleach. I must admit I am bad for not measuring out and just guessing how much I need, but my kitchen, bathroom and living room floors are pretty long so I half filled my bucket with water. I tend to add enough bleach to get a bit of a froth.
Upon opening the bottle, I tipped it upside down and gave a gentle squeeze to the sides of the bottle to add my bleach to the bucket.
Now, maybe I am just being a bit dumb here, but I was actually really disappointed when the bleach came out of the bottle....and it was yellow!!! I had actually believed that Tescos had made a pink bleach! I was left feeling rather moody about this, having looked forward to using my pink bleach only to feel somewhat shortchanged by the mis-advertising of the fact it was just a pink bottle!
Once I got over this and mopped my floors, I found my floors sparkling clean, and even some stubborn stains on the kitchen that I had previously not managed to get off with my floor wipes came up with little effort.
The smell can be slightly overpowering, especially when I get a little 'bleach happy' and scrub every inch of my kitchen and bathroom with the bleach too. My husband has often come in and remarked its 'stinks like a swimming pool', but as I point out to him at least we know it is clean!
Using it diluted I clean my kitchen sides and cupboards, all my appliances, and all the bathroom. It has helped get our white tiles gleaming and works better than any of our old cleaning products, which have now just been thrown out and replaced with this bottle of bleach instead!
Summary: My staple cleaning product now
