Tesco Thick Bleach 24 Hour Pink
Advantages: Cheap, works well
Disadvantages: Nothing major
Although I love Domestos Bleach, as a student and now saving for my wedding next year, I'm always looking for ways to save money. I get my shopping delivered from Tesco now at university so have been trying a whole range of Tesco's own branded products. One of the first things to be cut down on was cleaning products so I looked for a cheaper bleach.
The product that I chose to try was Tesco Thick Bleach 24 Hour (Pink). As you can probably tell from the pink description, this comes in a pink plastic bottle while other Tesco bleaches come in different coloured bottles. I really liked the idea of a pink bottle mainly as my things in the bathroom are pink and this way it would match. I'm sure my flatmate wouldn't care about this though. I wanted something that would last a long time but still do the job it is supposed to. As this is a Tesco product, it can only be found in store on online. For just 60p, you can get a 750ml bottle which is quite large and should last any household a decent amount of time.
The cap on this bottle is childproof so getting into it is sometimes a bit tricky, even for an adult. The best way to do this is to put the bottle down on a flat surface, squeeze in either side of the cap and then unscrew... then it will be ready for using. I generally use bleach in my bathroom and for the toilet but nowhere else in the house. This bleach claims to kill germs and bacteria dead but doesn't say much about the 24 hour thing. I assume it means that germs will continue to be killed for 24 hours but there is no way of proving this really.
There are many ways to use bleach but the main thing I use it for is cleaning toilets. I always use bleach neat in the toilet and just put enough around the rim and then give it a clean with a brush. However, if you are using this for things like cleaning walls or soaking white clothes, you will need to dilute the bleach before use. If you don't do this, there is risk of ruining your clothes or having a bad reaction to the bleach on your skin. If I am cleaning my bath, shower and tiles with bleach, I tend to get a big bucket filled with hot water and just squirt a bit of bleach in there and give it a good mix before using.
This Tesco bleach is about on par with other leading brands which do cost more money. I don't think that it is any better or worse than Domestos but it is cheaper. Due to the cost, I think I will be sticking with Tesco bleach from now on instead of paying more than I need to.
Summary: A good product
