Up until a couple of months ago I had always purchased Parazone bleach to put down my loo but then noticed a promotion on numorous Tesco bottles which meant I could buy two from the Tesco brand which would work out cheaper than buying just one from Parazone. The Tesco toilet bleach range comes in 3 colours which during the promotion you could mix and match - the colours were yellow, blue and pink. As well as the low cost of these bottles I had my eye purely on the hot pink one to match my white and pink bathroom! I was also secretly hoping the bleach would be scented something pleasant and girly and would have a pink tint to the colour - although that is asking a lot!

The total contents for this bleach is 750ml and you get just this size in the three colours mentioned above. The bottle in my opinion is made out of a thin feeble plastic and if you happened to drop the bottle chances are you would have a really bad accdient with the bleach inside - I say this as when you grip the neck loosely with your fingers it tends to be squeezed and fold in with very little effort from you.

The front of the bottle gives product information in braille - for those who have sight problems and the labelling tells you the product is thick bleack and is pink? It also tells you the bleach works for up to 24 hours and kills germs and bacteria dead. In the backround it gives you the image of an internal toilet bowl to show what the product is supposed to be used for - and the nozzle to dispense the bleach under the childproof lid is also shaped on a slant to make dispensing into a toilet bowl much easier. As with other bleachs the childproof lock works very well and is the type where you need to squeeze the lid with two fingers

Due to the shape of the dispenser the main reason for use of this particular bleach from the Tesco range is for on toilets as mentioned above and also sinks and basins - and instructions for all types of use are given on the back label. As with all bleach this is an irritant and does go on to give the usual warnings and safety instructions for this product.

Sadly my high expectations of the bleach itself were not met when I was expecting a pink tint coloured bleach, nice scent and thick as the packaging promises... The bleach itself is quite watery in comparrison to Domestos - is in no way pink, in fact it comes in the normal yellow colour you often see in all other bleachs... and smells just like a regular bleach... So the only benefit of me having the pink bottle over the yellow or blue is the fact that it matchs my bathroom and thats it. I have since tried the blue and yellow ones and the scents and appearance of the bleach in each of them is no different.

My verdict

Generally I use this bleach to pour around the toilet rim last thing at night to keep germs and the likes at bay. The nozzle on the bottle is easy to use works in the sense that it doesn't cause a mess. I am very dissaapointed that it claims to be a thick bleach when its actually very thin - and normal appearance and smell is a bit of a let down as well as I was expecting something a bit more girly!

However I do like the bottle colour which looks great in my bathroom (for a bleach!) and I guess you can't expect too much from a cheap bleach from a supermarket brand. I can't comment on how effective the bleach is at keeping germs at bay without using magnifying equipment but does seem to help keep the loo clean.

Would recommend to all - to me it works just as well as the higher priced bleaches. However I am marking this down to a 4 star as Tesco claimed this to be thick bleach - which it isn't - so I think it would be a huge dissapointment buying this when you actually needed something thick - the packaging is misleading.
