Tesco Ultra Absorbent Kitchen Towel
Advantages: Sorry to say I have not found any!
Disadvantages: Rips easy, does not soak up liquids well at all, expensive for the product quality
I am a big fan of the Tesco Value Kitchen towel product; I use it on such a frequent basis that I really would be lost without it! But that is just what happened to me when I popped along to my local branch of Tesco a couple of weeks ago, I was getting close to using up my last roll of the Value kitchen paper so wanted to get my next batch in ready for use! You can imagine my horror when I saw that the shelves were bare of the Value product! The only item that looked that it could be of any use was the Tesco Ultra Absorbent Kitchen Towel. There was actually more choice of kitchen towel than I ever thought there could be, it was all varying in size and price.
I only wanted a small pack of these kitchen rolls as buying any more would be a false economy as I knew I wanted to go back to my trusted Value kitchen paper! The ultra Absorbent towel comes in the option of a 2 pack which will cost you £1.59 as well as a pack of 6 rolls which will cost you £6.00 then there is the middle of the pack where you can buy 4 rolls for the price of £2.91. The 2 pack option is currently on an offer of buy 2 packs for the price of £2.50 so obviously you will do this rather than go with the 4 pack price. I opted for the 2 pack product, one for the space and second as I previously mentioned, I am a big fan of the Value kitchen towel.
The packaging is quite simple when it comes to this kitchen paper. It took me a while to spot it on the shelves as there really was a lot of choice but the main colours are white and green. The 2 rolls are held together by tightly wrapped cellophane, this cellophane is partly clear so you can see the towel through it but it also has all the information on the kitchen towel printed upon it as well. There is not a lot of information on the packaging but then what can you really say about something like kitchen towel. The main thin that I have noticed from the packaging is that there is of course the Tesco logo as well as the main emphasis being that this towel is Ultra Absorbent. There are no real instructions as such; I guess we all know what to do with the towel so all that was left for me to do was give the towel a try!
When I first opened this kitchen towel I did notice that each of the individual sheets did seem to be quite thick and whilst I had paid more for this product I was hoping that it was going to be a little more special than my Value paper... wrong! I first used this kitchen paper on a spillage in my kitchen, I think it was some vinegar so nothing that tough to clean up or even a sticky substance but the towel that I placed over the top of this vinegar was soon really damp and I am sure that I needed another sheet of the paper to wipe the finally spills of the vinegar away.
I do have to say that I was disappointed with the quality of this paper, I am comparing it to my normal buy of the Tesco Value paper but I did not expect liquids to soak through the paper so easily. I continued to use the rolls of paper as I had brought them but I was really happy to find that the Value paper was back in stock the next time I went into the supermarket!
I think I was also as disappointed with the roll as I had paid more for it. The Value paper is not really what I would call better but for a lower price I felt I was still getting the same quality. I would certainly not call this paper extra absorbent and will not be buying it again. Perhaps if you are buying this for the first time then you will find it ok but I will not be making a purchase again.
I even remember using it in the bathroom to wipe around the sink and the paper was not even strong, it ripped really easy and all I was doing was wiping my taps down!
In summary, I am sure that you have guessed that I certainly won't be using this kitchen paper again! For the price I am disappointed in the quality and the fact that I have found it to have no extra absorbency at all.
I give it 2 out of 5 stars and that is me being generous!
Thanks for reading.
Summary: Won't be buying again!
