Advantages: Works well on small jobs
Disadvantages: Is very greasy and don't touch windows or glass with it!
I do like all purpose cleaner. I like multi functioning products in general so I don't have to have loads of different bottles and stuff hanging about for different purposes. besides they don't half clutter the place up eh! I usually buy flash or something when they are on offer but I spotted this and having a full trolley decided to give it a go to save some pennies!
The Packaging....
750ml white plastic bottle with integrated handle and white screw on/off cap. On the front there is a white sticky label round it's middle that simply tells me it's Tesco's Value, All Purpose Cleaner. On the back of the bottle there is another sticky label which again at the top tells me what it is and then directions for use, care instructions, product information, warnings, additional information, contact details for Tesco's and the size (as I've stated already) are all listed. Simple, basic packaging which has all the information you need on it.
Directions For Use....
Undiluted: Use neat on cooker tops, work tops, sinks, baths, basins and stubborn stains. Direct onto surface, clean immediately. Rinse with clean water.
Diluted: for cleaning large areas, especially floors, walls, tiles and paintwork. Use 2 capfuls (60ml) to 1/2 bucket of warm water (5 litres).
Care Instructions....
Do not use on carpets, soft furnishings, or polished furniture. Mop up any spills, immediately. Avoid prolonged soaking of wallpaper, plastic, painted surfaces or aluminium. Store upright in a cool place. Do not expose to extremes or temperatures.
Using It....
Well the consistency isn't as runny as I expected it actually looks like leading brands in that respect. It's a dark yellow and smells lemony really though not zingy but it is quite fresh and sweet smelling. Now I have used it in the ways I've stated you can use it.
Neat I've used it in the kitchen on the cooker and quite frankly it is rubbish on hard stains. Yes it works but you have to put your back into it! Tiles and places shiny it can smear so you have to watch that. I thnk because it's onthe greasy side.
This, I find s better on smaller jobs. I've used it neat on some tea stains I got on my wallpaper and without removing anything it shouldn't it removed them easily. I do use it on polished surfaced such as tops of my drawers and it's fine and none sticky and it's fine on kitchen worktops too provising I don't use too much. I've used it on my skirting boards and on my painted wooden doors to remove dirty fingerprints and again it did that really easily.
I do however find this product has its downsides. Using on sinks is fine but be careful in baths and shower cubicles because this is where I first noticed it is very greasy and could be quite slippy if not careful. It does removed grease and grime but you do need to wipe it off well. Also the instructions are correct in implying not to over saturate things. I have wooden, painted, veneered wardrobe doors and this is excellent at wiping them over for a freshen up but I have found that near the engraved patterning the paint sort of stuff looks like it is peeling and I'm sure it's due to 'wet' products.
Again I have used it diluted as well to mop my kitchen floor and tiles and yes it performed that very well, smells nice and clean and I had no complaints. Till half an hour later when it was dry I went to make a cup of tea (barefoot) and almost broke my neck. This really is greasy as hell and yes I made it up entirely as instructions told me to do so! When my Mum came back of her holiday the following day she thought house was clean, fresh and tidy but complained the kitchen floor felt sticky. It took a few moppings over to completely get rid of the stickiness I'd created using another product!
A massive drawback with this is I was cleaning my light fittings with some of this in my bedroom (lights off and course, and minimal amount lol) when I kicked the bottle over and lost quite a bit on my beige carpet. I wiped it up the best I could and this really did stay sticky for a long time and when it completely dried I'm still stuck with a sticky patch and a definite stain (weeks later).
All in all....
It's ok. It's cheap and cheerful and some minor jobs it tackles really well to be fair to it. A little goes a very long way and it really is better than nothing. Just be vigilant and realise it is a little greasy. Will I be buying it again? No simply because I cant be bothered with the extra work involving using this but if your skint it's an excellent buy for sure!
27p per bottle only in Tescos.
Summary: Ok for tackling small jobs!
