Advantages: good price, good warmth

Disadvantages: no scale heat, i.e. 1, 2, 3

As a child my parents always used to buy me an electric blanket to keep me nice and toasty, just because that's what they did and I suppose I didn't want to be left out in the cold (quite literally!). I seem to recall them costing a fair bit and it being considering quite a luxury to have one.

So considering this you can really imagine my delight when I strolled into my local Tesco as a poor student to find tesco value electric blankets. I snapped one up right away and got home to put it on my bed then waited for nighttime.

Now it was time to test it out, I switched it on about fifteen minutes before I wanted to go to bed just to make sure it was nice and warm. I found it kind of annoying there only being an on or off switch, there was no scale so it just had to be hot or cold. On some occasions it might be nicer to have a slightly cooler heat for when it's not quite in the minus numbers.

The product itself was a double blanket, and felt quite flimsy, which left me not really sure of it's ability to keep me wrong. I was quite wrong however and it seemed to be hot enough, but as i mentioned before, a scale of heat might have been nice. The edges of the blanket weren't as hot as the middle either, but as i'm quite small I was able to fit in the main part of the blanket.

It did feel a bit uncomfortable under my mattress cover and made some strange noises as I rolled about. At £25 I can't really fault this, because it is a totally adequate product. You dont need to look at it after you've put it in your bed so the aesthetic point of view isn't such a problem, and given that it has all the relevant safety checks, you don't need to worry about fires.

If you are looking for something to warm you up in winter, this will work a treat, there is no need to spend anymore than this.

Summary: brilliant purchase, would recommend it to anyone

But if it doesn't have a variable heat then consumers will have to pay a bit more.

Some more info would be good here - is the cord detachable from the sheet to make it machine washable or just damp cloth washable without the cord removed?

Can you feel the cords in between you and the mattress cover? Whats the overall length?

A bit more info would be good here.
