Advantages: Cheap and see through
Disadvantages: Could be thicker than they are.
I don't use Tesco's a great deal, but I am quite a fan of their electrical items and have heard good things about their value range. As a result I decided to give their value freezer bags a try when I ran out of the ones I usually use.
They come in a box of 50 and are clearly part of the value range due to the blue, red and white packaging. The bags are a good size and seem to be as big as my normal ones and they measure 28.5cm x 22cm. They close easily as there is a roll of ties that allows you to seal in everything and as they are clear there is no need to label them as you will be able to see what is in each one.
I hate wasting things that have the potential to be a good part of another meal and can't believe how some friends just clear everything that is not eaten into the bin when they could have a ready-made meal one night.
I was not expecting a great deal from them as they were only 60p for 50 bags and this is about half the price of other freezer bags I have used so I think they are a bit of a bargain. I was a bit worried that this would mean the quality was not going to be too good, but they are big enough for what I want and also seem to be strong enough although they are clearly thinner than mor expensive ones.
So far there have been no problems at all as the bags have kept the food well frozen and nothing has seeped through the bag. I would recommend them for anyone who is planning on freezing leftovers, but if you are going to be deliberately making a lot extra with the intention of freezing it may be an idea to get a thicker if more expensive bag.
The only thing I can't be sure of is how long they will last in the freezer. As I only ever freeze small amounts and use them then next week, nothing has been left in one for months.
Summary: Cheap and good for what I want but could be more substantial.
