Advantages: Does the job and dirt cheap

Disadvantages: smell not as good as leading brands

My wife is an absolute clean freak, I'm always telling her she cleans way too much! Her two favourite things are her Hoover and her polish; these are the two things she says she wouldn't be without. I swear we go through nearly a whole can of polish a week! I will on the odd occasion help her with the cleaning but it's never good enough (I expect it's the same for most men). I know we are all sick of hearing about the credit crunch but to be honest with the raise in prices in the supermarkets we all do have to watch the pennies and tighten our belts. When shopping me and my wife have been swapping some of our more expensive brands to the cheaper versions like the value range in Tesco. The way we look at it is if they aren't any good we have wasted much money and we know to not buy them again. Tesco value furniture polish was our recent try, here's what we thought.

The cost
This was one of the things my wife really didn't want to try she normally uses a leading brand like Pledge or Mr Sheen but when I pointed out to her that Mr sheen was £1.35 and the value polish was only 30p she wavered and decided to give it a go. The sizes of both cans are 300ml so you get the same amount in each can with the value polish being a massive £1.05 now if this isn't a reason to try it what is?

The packaging
It's like all Tesco value products, very basic but do we really need all the fancy designs when all that matters are what's inside sometimes I think that's why we pay extra for them. The slender tin is white with the red and blue standard Tesco value logo, it has a white plastic lid which I feel it's better to have the cans without the lids as it's a pain to keep taking the lid on and off, plus my wife kills me when I lose the ld which I normally do!
I feel the information on the can is adequate it gives you instructions of how to use; storage and care information which I feel is all you need.

The polish
It's so easy to use you just take off the lid and spray where you desire about 20cm away alternately you can spray it onto your duster before and polish that way. The smell we both agreed was not as good as Mr Sheen or Pledge with the leading brands you can buy them with different fragrances like jasmine and springtime. These polishes smell almost as good as some air freshener's, it's nice to walk in a room and smell the freshness when you have cleaned. The value polish leaves the smell that you have cleaned but doesn't give the same fresh smell.

Where you can use it
My wife uses polish for just about everything! She uses it on our wooden furniture, picture frames, Chrome work, mirrors, and tiles. I tend to use it most when I'm cleaning the inside of my car. To be honest I don't clean that much but do always clean my car (my wife won't touch this) when cleaning the inside of my car at the weekend I felt that it worked just as well as the other ones my wife likes to buy. It's easy to spray on and wipes the dust away instantly and also leaves a nice shine. My wife really has been converted since trying this polish (she's really fussy believe me) she says it leaves a really good shine to all her mirrors and chrome work, that's what she loves to get all shiny, she even uses it on our kettle and toaster, does anyone else do that? The polish doesn't leave smears either.

Why buy it?
The price is the initial reason to buy it's over two thirds cheaper than some leading brands so just think if you buy a can of polish every fortnight you would save yourself roughly £27 a year what a saving!
In our view it works just as well as the other leading brands, it does all what a polish is meant to do. I do like the value products as they don't have all the fancy packaging which to me is all a gimmick half the time you are paying for the fancy labelling. None of the ingredients or the product has been tested on animals so this is always a plus in my eyes.

The downsides
The only downside to this polish I think is that the fragrance isn't as nice smelling as the leading brands, but when you are shopping for a polish you are looking for a polish not an air freshener. The value polish doesn't smell bad it just leaves a cleaned polish smell.

To sum it up a great Tesco value product to buy I would definitely recommend it, in the meantime I will keep trying more of them, and you may see another value review soon

Summary: Great polish try it!
