Advantages: GREAT BARGAIN, WORKS AS WELL AS OTHER BRANDS
Disadvantages: OVER-POWERING SMELL
I used to regularly buy Mr Sheen furniture polish, as it was a brand I had used for a long time, and because I had used it for so long, I trusted and knew that it would do what it claimed. However, for about the last year or so I have been converted to the "Tesco Value" furniture polish as I was happy with the results it gave from the first time I ever used it.
The tin itself is rather uninspiring - plain white, with the usual "Tesco Value" logo on, which is basically a white background with blue and red detail. Such things don't necessarily worry me to be honest, I'm more concerned with the products themselves and whether they achieve the purpose for which they were purchased in the first place, rather than what the outside of the box or carton looks like.
I am so impressed with the low price for this product! It currently costs around the 35p mark for a full-size tin. The can has the usual type of aerosol that other furniture polishes have and is the same size of tin.
Another great thing about the Tesco polish is that I find I don't need too much of the product in order for it to be effective. For my little nest of tables, for example, I find that a small spray in the centre of the table will easily suffice and spread easily enough round to the table edge and the whole area will be equally polished; it is not one of these products that you need to spray a little bit, then polish, then spray a little bit more, and so on.
Because of this, I find that the tin is even MORE economical as a whole tin will last me well over a month - thus making it even better value for money. I am of the opinion that furniture polish is just that - a POLISH, not a cleaner, so I tend to clean my furniture with other products and use the polish to give the wooden items a nice sheen. For this purpose, it is ideal.
What I don't like about the product though, is the smell. I find it quite over-powering and I usually need to open the window for a while after I have cleaned with the furniture polish otherwise I end up with a bit of a headache. That is not only the case with THIS brand of furniture polish to be fair, though, I have always found this to be the case, expensive brand or not.
Like I said earlier, since first trying this product, I've continued to buy it as I think it does as good a job as the more expensive brands. I don't do all my shopping in Tesco as I think it is much more expensive overall, but I do pop there for a few bits and pieces as it is so close by. This product has been added to the list of these items for a while now, and there it shall remain!
I am going to deduct a star though, for the over-powering and "chemical" type of smell that lingers for a while after I've used it... bleugh! Can't they make an unperfumed one?
I'd recommend trying it, not much to loose for 35 or so pence, is there? :-D
Summary: A GOOD BARGAIN
