I have a large 50 litre Brabantia kitchen bin and find the cost of the Brabantia bin liners extortionate so am always looking for a cheaper alternative. I really thought I had found the answer when I spotted Tesco value bin lines selling at just 71p for a roll of 30 large bin liners. To compare, Tesco sell other large bin liners for around £3 for 20 liners, so that's a huge difference in price! I have tried many items in the value range with mixed results so was certainly willing to give these bin liners a try.

Tesco value bin liners come in a roll of 30 with a paper wrapper around the middle. The wrapper has the usual Tesco value red, blue and white colours. The liners are black and come in one long roll with perforations between each liner so you can separate them. The first thing to say is that these bin liners are quite thin compared to more expensive brands. However I found them easy enough to separate.

They are quite large and fitted into my 50 litre bin with some overlap. So far so good. However these bin liners are really not up to the job as far as I'm concerned! They are fine if all you put into your bin is paper, but surely you will be recycling that? The first time I used one of these liners and went to empty my bin I ended up with a horrible mess on my floor as the bag split along the bottom! I tried with another liner and this time emptied the bin when it was less than half full. Again the bag split with a horrible resulting mess.

The only real use for these liners that I can see is to make fancy dress costumes for Halloween! They really are a total waste of money!

Summary: value bin bags

These are totally hopeless, I tried the Sainsburys version and they were just as bad.

As I say - Quality, not quantity:)

Gre at review!
