Disadvantages: More rubbish than the rubbish you put in them!
Because I usually shop at Asda I hadn't used these bags before but on a rarer trip to Tesco's I picked some of these up to try. I don't mind paying more for bin liners as a rule but I'm happy to try out cheaper alternatives and see if they're any good.
I paid about 97p for 40 black bags which is very cheap so I didn't have high expectations as it is quite a lot of bags for the price. The roll is held together with a piece of paper going around it with the Tesco logo, amount of bags and a quick description of what you're buying, very basic and normal for a cheaper propduct. Like other bin liners, the bags are attatched to one another but they easily pull apart when you come to use them.
As I expected, the bags are very thin and flimsy. I put one of these in my empty kitchen bin, and a few days later when it was full, came to empty it. As I pulled the black bag out of the bin it began to tear straight away and it became apparent that I wasn't going to get the bag out of the bin intact. I ended up having to put two of the bin liners together then emptying the bin into them. So for three days general household waste I'd used three bin liners, when normally I would use one. I didn't over fill the bin or put very heavy rubbish in it, the bags are just very weak.
After that I ended up doubling all of the sacks up before using them in the bin and being careful not to put too much rubbish in before I emptied them. Even then they'd begin to tear as I took them out and you have to be very careful not to rip them. Although they are cheaper than some of the other brands of bin bags, I don't think you really save any money because you have to use more of them to do the same job as one good quality bag would do.
I wouldn't recommend these bags at all. They might come in handy if you're using them to transport very few, light objects but I think you might as well buy a slightly more expensive brand and have the reassurance of a bit of quality so you know your rubbish isn't going to end up all over your kitchen floor!
Summary: Poor quality bin liners.
