Advantages: only 15p for 5, do a good job

Disadvantages: sponge is white, bit smaller in size than some scourers

Scourers aren't the most exciting items to pop into the shopping basket but are a necessity in our house & we go through quite a few in the course of a month.

I've tried quite a few brands which have ranged from the fairly expensive (£2 for 10) to the very cheap (£1 for 9) all with varying results & when I was doing my online Tesco shop I thought I'd give theirs a try at 15p for 5.

I suppose I use scourers more than anyone else in our home as it seems to be me who does most of the cleaning up after hubby, daughters, cat & dog & they're useful for many purposes so I'm not quite sure why they're called pan scourers? Personally I don't think they work that well on pans!

These Tesco ones come in a cellophane wrapper as shown in the photo - easy to open & store. They seem slightly smaller than some brands & measure about 5cm x 10cm & the scouring layer is approx 5mm thick. I'm use to the sponge part being green, pink, blue or yellow so I was surprised to find these are white which shows up all the grease & muck.

I use scourers mainly in the kitchen, bathroom & utility room but also I find them useful in the garden for wiping down garden furniture etc. I always have a clean one by the sink for doing the pots the dishwasher hasn't done very well, 1 for wiping kitchen surfaces & I use 1 for cleaning the cooker & microwave etc.

They're great to use in the bathroom for either wiping or thoroughly cleaning basins, showers etc & because they're squeezy you can get into small/awkward corners.

Cleaning up after our pets is also a doddle with these scourers & I use them for cleaning out food bowls etc.

As I don't like to use the same scourer over & over again I don't really see the point in paying too much for a pack so these Tesco ones are OK but I may not buy them regularly purely because the sponge is white.
