Advantages: Good for soft mess and spills; Dead cheap

Disadvantages: No good for proper burnt on mess

I made a right mess of the grill pan yesterday when I put some bacon on too high and it dripped and burnt all over the pan and it didn't help that I'd sprinkled it with mixed herbs as well so they all got burnt as well and the bottom of the pan was a black tarry mess.

I went across the road to Tesco but when I got there I only had £1.00 on me so had to buy some kitchen cleaner and scouring pads out of that so when I saw these sponge pan cleaners for 15p I thought I'd give them a try because then I still had a few pence to get something to help clean the grill pan.

These are quite good even though they are so cheap but the problem is that they are white and as soon as they touched the mess they looked all brown and manky.

The scouring bit at the top isn't that good because it's a bit too soft to get rid of burnt on mess but I'd already soaked the pan so most of it lifted off quite easy anyway. The sponge is good for wiping away all the dirt after cleaning and I thought they buffed the grill pan up with a nice shine.

While I was doing that I thought I'd better clean the hob as well because I'd made a mess of that as well and they weren't so good then because the scourer isn't strong enough and just smeared the mess across the top of the cooker.

I reckon these are ok for wiping the tops in the kitchen and they soak up quite well so if you spill anything in the kitchen you'll be able to use the sponge side to mop it up.

15p is a wicked price for 5 scourers and sponges though and even though they are not that good for hard mess at least it won't break the bank to get rid of the smaller messes.
