Advantages: cost and good quality
Disadvantages: no limescale remover?
Im always a bit of a snob when it comes to brands I think i think the more you pay for something the better it is. In some cases this can be true but not all.
Due to the credit crunch ( thats all we hear! ) when I do my shopping online at Tesco ive been trying out a few of their value brands. The idea is to try them and if I don't like the product not to use them again these products are generally very cheap and sometimes more that half the price of any other leading brand. So the way I look at it is you won't be wasting loads of money.
I find some household products are really expensive so this is where I wanted to save money first. I tried many of their value household products like washing powder and polish, the one I have been most impressed with is the toilet cleaner let me tell you why.
Firstly is of course the cost, it was 24p for750ml which is a brilliant buy when the tesco normal brand is 80p and a leading brand like Harpic is a whopping £1.65. You can argue that the value brand doesn't have all the extras like limescale remover etc but for 24p what can you expect.
It came in a plain white plastic bottle with a simple design on the front with sufficient information ( how much infromation can you need for toilet cleaner ) I think this is great as you aren't paying for all the different colour bottles or the fancy labelling you get the minimum required. If you look at packaging for domestos or hapic the bottles are always in a colour and labelling really fancy and sometimes tell you in my opinion too much information. The information it provides is safety, useage and storage in my opinion thats all you need. There was a spout on the end of the bottle for easy pouring which was easy to use.
The smell I thought was great it is of pine fragrance and of a strong enough odour in my opinion no different to any other toilet cleaner and it lasted fairly well. I did find that normally I ( should I say my wife, sorry! ) put toilet cleaner around the toilet every other day but with this brand we did have to do it daily but as its so cheap it really didn't make a different and was still very economical.
The cleaner itself is of thick consistency, sometimes when you use cheaper brands they almost look as they are watered down but I thought this one was very good. The cleaner is green so its good for seeing when you have put it in the toilet, sometimes the liquids are clear and you can end up using loads as you can't see where you are putting it.
The only downfall if you like is that it doesn't have limescale remover but is all this a gimmick? does the brands who state they remove limescale really do this? I think its up to the individual and what they believe in my opinion its all a gimmick and i will continue to use this cheaper brand in my eyes its a top cheaper product what a bargin!
Summary: great value brand its sold me
