When I visited someone the other day, I was a bit surprised to find I'd have to use Tesco Value Toilet Tissue in their loo. Usually even when people do use these bargain brands, they at least hide the evidence! But no, this packet was out loud and proud so I figured they must have some kind of faith in the product being acceptable.


I gave it a go and was surprised to find that the quality was actually very acceptable. I wouldn't want to use this on a daily basis because it does have a cheap, slightly coarse feel to it. But overall it's actually softer than I expected it to be and perfectly acceptable to use if you're on a budget or saving up for something.


I had a look on the Tesco website and discovered that you can buy 12 rolls of this stuff for £1.11 pence. Given that the next cheapest brand, Tesco own, would cost you four times that, that's pretty amazing. The rolls are quite small so you probably do have to use double the amount but it still works out to be half the price of the next brand up.
