Advantages: Cheap

Disadvantages: Poor quality, painful

A couple of days ago I visited a friend's house and was interested to see that they had a pack of Tesco Value Toilet Tissue in their bathroom. My interest was piqued for two reasons:
1) It seemed an ideal way to test out the toilet tissue without having to buy it, and if I liked it I could purchase it myself in the future and save some money in the process
2) I would be able to review it for Dooyoo! (yes, that's how sad I am).

Anyway, here is what I discovered:

~~~Packaging~~~
These toilet rolls are simply packaged in a clear polyethylene bag with the blue and red Tesco Value symbol stating their cheap nature for all to see. There's nothing particularly wrong with the packaging unless you are embarrassed about guests seeing your budget choice of loo paper.
The packet tells me that the toilet tissue is 100 per cent recycled, which is good news for the environment. The packaging also bears the FSC symbol, which means that the wood used to make the paper is ethically sourced from well-managed forests, more good news for Mother Earth.
~~~How does it look?~~~

The paper looks pretty thin and cheap. It is double layer but that's essential as without two layers it would be see through. The paper has lots of tiny bumps on it. It is supposed to be white but it has a bit of a depressing grey tinge to it.

~~~How does it feel?~~~
Terrible. It's rough, coarse and painful. I even found it too rough for my fingers to touch, so I definately didn't enjoy putting it near more sensitive body parts. As well as feeling like sandpaper, it isn't very strong and seems liable to disintegrate when wet.
~~~Price~~~

This toilet paper is only available from Tesco (obviously!) and is ridiculously low in price at just 37p for 4 rolls or £1.11 for 12. To give you a comparison, Asda Shades is £2.08 for 4 rolls and £4.52 for 12, and Quilted Velvet, probably the most expensive paper above Andrex and Charmin is £2.33 for 4 rolls or £6.24 for 12. This makes Tesco Value loo paper considerably cheaper, even if you end up using twice as much of it!

~~~Conclusion~~~
Personally I wouldn't buy this unless I was seriously broke. It's just too uncomfortable. But if you're really struggling for money, or if you're just not that sensitive to toilet paper, then this might be a good option for you, as it will save you a lot of money over the course of a year.
Summary: OK if you're very hardy!
Sainsbury's value loo roll is a million times better than this, but I swear all value loo rolls 'melt' on use!
I use the Asda version but bought the Tesco pack as a one off. Between each layer was a powder of paper particles which scattered everywhere. It was awful stuff! I'll pay the extra 4p for the Asda cheapy!!
It can't be as bad as the 'tracing paper' we had in school haha.
