Not value for money (Tesco Value Toilet Tissue)

Advantages: better than no loo roll

Disadvantages: tears, thin, funny smell, rough

I am all for trying new products and certainly cheaper versions of my usual products. My girlfriend and I normally go supermarket shopping together and use various supermarkets to purchase our weekly shopping. However, I recently let her loose in our local Tesco and we reappeared with these! Tesco Value Toilet Tissue. 12 rolls of 200 sheets cost around £1.16 which is quite a considerable saving on Andrex or Charmin which is our usual!

The rolls are a nasty greyish colour, which I think is because they are made from recycled materials. Not a nice thought. Anyway, not wanting to let the cheap looking wrapper and the appearance of the roll itself, I thought i had better give them a whirl.

Ouch.... my bum! These are not pleasant at all, very harsh on my bum, I do not like the way they feel at all. To me they also have a 'funny' smell, very paper-y. This might be psychological because I am wondering what they have been recycled from but was slightly off putting. THe most off-putting thing was the feel of the paper against my skin, very rough.

I also found that I used loads to try to 'soften the blow' and to try to stop it from tearing, which it frequently does, which defeats the object of using a value brand - does not make them value for money in my opinion.

My girlfriend thinks these are okay so we have agreed that she will continue using the cheaper brands and I want my soft soft soft back.

I would not personally use these again.
