Advantages: Cheap as chips

Now I'm normally willing to drop down a couple of brands in my shopping in order to save a few pennies. I have been doing this quite frequently in the last year and I have often been quite pleasantly suprised. Up until recently however I had not been willing to compromise on loo roll... sure my preferred brand was quite expensive but it was an item that I was happy to pay the extra for quality.

Last week I spent a week with my mum and two small girls in a static caravan in a very rainy and windswept wales. We went shopping for provisions for our week and my mum added the Tesco Value Toilet Tissue to the trolley. It came in a pack of 12 rolls and I really couldn't believe how cheap the stuff was...it cost a meare £1.26. This was so unbelievable cheap that I actually took a double take. I normally pay approx £1.85 for 4 rolls so this is a huge saving. Havin said that I was incredibly sceptical that the quality would persuade me to change to this value brand.

Ok, so how did it fair???? Well I don't want to go into too much detail about these matters but in the words for my 3 year old daughter...'Ooooo mummy it's scratchy, it's hurting my bottom' When I took the rolls out of the packaging, I immediately noticed that the paper felt much rougher and more textured to what I was used to. It just looked and felt very cheap. The rolls are also very small, I would say they contain about a third of the paper that you normally get on a premium toilet roll.

Well it did the job so to speak but I certainly wouldn't buy again and it had reconfirmed to me that there are certain products that I just can't compromise on
