Advantages: Fairly strong, absorbs most spills, the towels look nice
Disadvantages: No good for scrubbing mess away and larger spills will use up more towel
I usually use Bounty kitchen roll (or Plenty as it is now strangely known) but have become rather annoyed at how the supermarkets seem to be adding a few pence to the price every single time I buy it. It started out as very expensive but is now a scandalous price in most shops and more than I am prepared to pay for kitchen roll which is ultimately used once and then thrown away.
I was drawn to Tesco Value Kitchen Roll because it comes in the form of two jumbo rolls, rather than the four skinnier rolls that seem to be provided in the various 'no-frills' ranges and Poundland kitchen roll offerings which last no time at all before they need replacing.
These kitchen rolls are good enough for my purposes, obviously the thinner sheets will not stand up to scrubbing as Bounty does but then I cannot really see why anyone would need or want to use kitchen roll for scrubbing as you can buy reusable scourers for a fraction of the price!
The kitchen roll is fairly soft and durable to a point. I find I need to use one or two sheets for a small spill, yesterday I knocked one of my granddaughters' full bottles over before I'd replaced the lid and I needed exactly six sheets to mop up all the spilled juice. I could have done the same job with just two sheets of Bounty, but then this kind of large spill doesn't happen very often so I doubt if I've made a false economy here.
I have also successfully used this kitchen roll to scoop up some wet compost that had found its way onto my kitchen floor, it made light work of this job and I was able to do it with one sheet and then another to wipe away the remaining wetness. The kitchen roll is also good used damp to wipe my granddaughter's face after she's had her dinner or (worse!) an ice cream, a single sheet will get her looking nice and clean again and the roll is soft enough not to irritate her skin.
The kitchen rolls themselves are prettily embossed and come in white only, this is fine with me as I don't particularly want patterned kitchen roll and these don't really look dull as the rolls are such a pristine white colour.
I paid £1.12 for these two jumbo rolls of Value Kitchen Roll which I think is excellent value considering a roll lasts on average just as long as a roll of Bounty which costs over £2 for two rolls. Admittedly if you use kitchen roll for heavy jobs then Bounty is the more durable of the two, but really using kitchen roll for cleaning is silly when you can buy a plethora of 'proper' cleaning materials for pennies in most supermarkets.
Summary: £1.12 for these kitchen towels, which is excellent Value in my book!
