Disadvantages: Limited wear resistance, limited absorbency
--Why Purchase These--
**********************
Basically when you think about it, what are Kitchen Towels (Kitchen Roll as I call it usually) used for?
Well in our household they are mainly used to mop up spills, or to quickly wipe over a surface in lieu of a cloth, or very occasionally they admirably stand in to fulfill the role of a napkin.
So what im angling to say, is that kitchen towel is hardly a key purchase, and quality (within limits) is of little consequence to the daily routine. So when presented with the chance of purchasing 200 double ply sheets for £1.24 (at time of writing) rather than paying in excess of £3.00 it is almost a no-brainer decision to purchase them.
However, before thinking this is bargain of the century it is worth noting that up until about 4-5 months ago, these two 100 sheet rolls, actually consisted of four, 60 sheet rolls for the same price. Which worked out even better value. Also note, that Tesco stock a 4 roll standard Kitchen Roll which costs just over £2, but is comparable to Bounty in performance. So think wisely, before purchasing.
--How do these Perform--
***********************
To make the review easier to understand and maybe dare I say clearer, im awarding a score out of 10, and individual commentary for each of the below criteria.
-Absorbency: If you are used to using a premium product such as Bounty, these will appear truly rubbish. Yes, these are a doubly ply, but being constructed of a relatively thin material, the water holding capability is quite limited. However, since these are less than a third of the price, you can just use a few more sheets and still be quids in, so it is not all bad news. 4/10.
-Softness and Feel: I would imagine practically everyone has used a kitchen roll as a napkin, or blown their nose on one. An if you were to do that with these, you wouldn't be overly dissapointed, these actually feel relatively soft and of better quality than they probably are. 7/10.
-Wear and Tear: Giving something a quick wipe over with these, and you will be fine. If you try using some force for example to clean a hobb top, or a work surface, and these will disentegrate. My advice would be to use a cloth. These perform poorly in this area. 3/10.
-Roll Size: Coming in two 100 sheet rolls, you really won't be forever changing these kitchen roll tubes. On average each of these should be enough to last the average four person household for at least two weeks. (assuming around 4-7 sheets are used a day). 8/10
-Cost Value: As mentioned the two 100 sheet rolls, will cost you £1.24 at the moment. Which works out to around two/three sheets for a single penny! .If you compare this to the other of the big supermarkets products this is very competitive, and when I last checked (not inclusing special offers) these came in as the cheapest. 10/10
--Summary--
************
These are fantastic value, they do a decent job in most circumstances, and unless you want printed kitchen roll embelished with pictures of teddys, or vines, and want to use these to scrub the whole house, these are just the perfect purchase, and one of the best of the Tesco Value Range!
I can not think of a justifiable reason not to purchase these.
Summary: One of the best Tesco Value items in the range!!
