Something that is always a necessity in the kitchen cupboard is washing up liquid, even for those who are lucky enough to own a dishwasher, some pots and pans, crystal glasses and baking trays are either too large, fragile or dirty to put into a dishwasher and therefore, there is only one option available, Washing up liquid.


I use to be a big fan of Fairy Washing up liquid, it seemed to do as the advert says, lasts far far longer than other brands. Not only did it require a much smaller squirt per bowl of water, but the soapy bubbles (which may serve no real purpose, but they look nice) last far longer compared to the Tesco value washing up liquid which just disintegrated just as quickly as they formed. Then came the other Tesco brands of washing up liquid, they are far improved to the value version, the one that I recently bought and tried out is of a 'Lime & Ginger' fragrance and what is most important to me, it is 'Anti-Bacterial'. In the past I have been pretty cautious when using washing up liquid, worried that, due to the lack of anti-bacterial action, whenever you wash dishes with bacteria on them, for example a chopping board that had raw chicken on it, the bacteria would enter the water and then transfer to all the dishes that are washed from then on. Now no bacteria will spread and my dishes are really clean. The lime & ginger fragrance is very pleasant and also comes in a lavender scent if it is more your cup of tea.


The packaging is a standard shaped washing up bottle as in the picture above, of a 500ml quantity. The price of the Tesco Washing up liquids ranges from 70p to 86p for different scents. There is also a Tesco standard lemon scent washing up liquid which is the former 'value' brand which costs a mere 46p for a 500ml bottle.


Overall, the Tesco Washing up liquid is a fantastic product, competing successfully against the branded products like Fairy, etc. I will continue to keep stock of this in my cupboard and give this product a Dooyoo rating of 5 stars out of 5.
