Body Shop Cranberry Joy Reed Diffuser
Recently I have had a few vouchers for Body Shop and they have been having a good sale too so I have been tempted in and have bought some things that I would not normally have bought. I suspect some of these were old stock and they needed to get rid before the for new stuff Christmas came in for this year. Personally I think a lot of Body Shop stuff is over priced and that the price I pay when on sale is about right.
I like having these reed diffusers around the house as our house is on the market and these are an easy way of keeping the unused rooms smelling fragrant and different from each other and that way the aromas are subtly noticed by visitors as they walk around.
I try to avoid the foody scented one unless it is for the kitchen and so fruit and spice ones are my usual choices. This cranberry one caught my eye as it was 50% reduced and I also bought a couple of other cranberry joy items while I was there too.
This one I put in my son's old bedroom which is now empty and it makes a perfect amount of scent in there. The room is not huge and we keep the door closed all the time to keep the cats out of there and prevent any extra bits they might bring in so it doesn't get a lot of air movement and needs a bit of freshening in my view. This smell is subtle, and not too sweet so suits the room which is not feminine at all, very simple and plain.
As I open the room I am aware that there is a nice fruity aroma, it smells exactly like their bath crystals and oil and others in the same range, it definitely isn't sweet and does not bowl you over in any way.
I liked the fact that the glass container was made from recycled glass and can of course be recycled again after the scented oil has dried out. The reed sticks are similar to others and they stick out of the jar and look quite nice , it is understated and simple which again suits the room's décor.
I paid 50% of the rrp and I think I paid about £7 which I think is about what it is worth, I would not pay £15 for it even though it has lasted for a good few months probably because the room doesn't get used much so there is little air movement and also it is north facing so doesn't get a lot of sun. Mine has been going strong for about three months now and still has some oil left in it.
I do like the smell and it does scent the room and it has lasted well but I don't feel it is worth £15 so it loses a star for that. I would happily buy it again at 50% off though. I will watch out for it AFTER Christmas to see if I can grab another in the sale.
Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same user name.
I bought three of these in the Body Shop just before Christmas 2010 to be gifts. They were in the three for two offer, and forteen pounds each, so it came to 28 pounds for three presents.
The reed diffusers come primarily in a cardboard box, it is tall and rectangular. Packing is quite scarce, so don't order these off the internet as they is a chance they might not arrive in just one piece. Inside the box is a cylindrical glass 'vase' type shape. Into this you pour the oil (which until you receive the product is sealed, so none of the smell can break out!) The oil takes up about three quarters of the glass vase. If you wanted you could use a different type of smelling oil, but it would be pointless buying this particular set, you may as well just buy the set which you like the smell of.
Once you have poured the solution into the vase, you add the reed diffuser sticks. Each set has around eight of them. They sink to the bottom of the solution so they sit at the bottom of the vase and they poke out the top. They work by absorbing the solution, it travels up the sticks and slowly evaporates from the sticks into and around the room.
The mechanism of delivery makes the smell a subtle and long lasting one. It is not over powering, but the cranberry scent is still quite significant, in my opinion. I personally only really like it around Chirstmas as I think it can be quite seasonal, but that is just personal opinion. I really really like the vanilla and nutmeg version of this set which I got bought as a gift the year before.
The set is long lasting, good quality and good value for money. Once the solution has run out you can replace it, but the reeds won't last more than a year in my opinion. The set makes a lovely gift for a nice home!
I bought 1 of these for my Mum's Christmas. Again this was a purchase made from my Friend who held a Body Shop Party, but I was looking for an extra thing for my mum anyway. She always liked the Yankee Candle Reed Diffuser i've had in my bathroom for the last 9 months (and there is still plenty of it left in it), so I thought why not get her one. There was quite a few scents to choose from, but I have used the Body Shop Cranberry Body Butter and loved the scent so this was my choice.
This cost £15 for this, which may seem a lot, but they last a good lenght of time anyway. After I made the purchase I wanted 1 myself, but with it being Christmas time I needed all the £15's I could get like everyone else at that time of year. 2 weeks ago I went onto The Body Shop's website to look for a present for a friend and I saw that these were reduced to less than half price and selling at £7, so that was mine! You get free delivery if you spend over £15 which I was doing anyway.
This comes in a long rectangular box like the Dooyoo picture. The colouring looks quite rich, and I think it all looks ok. This was also in a clear plastic bag as well for some reason, perhaps not to damage the box. Just open the box and the top and get into the product.
This looks quite simple. It is just a 90ml Glass bottle thing. Not a proper bottle shape, but pretty much. It is wider at the bottom and gets narrower nearer the top. The liquid is clear as well. Perhaps things like this could look a bit more fancy in a way? The bottle just had a screw top lid on it which was easy enough to remove. The only other part to this was the handful of Wood Reeds.
So to use this all you do is unscrew the bottle and place the Reeds into the neck of the Bottle. The way this works is that the Oil soaks into the Wood and gives off the scent of this. When it is first opened you can smell the strong scent of the Cranberry, and although you can still smell this on a daily basis it just doesn't seem quite as strong. It is a nice scent. It is quite a sweet smell and just lovely.
As I said i've been using my other one for 9 months and it still has about a third left in it. The Oil evaporates away but say £15 for a year of scenting then I don't think it is all that bad.
A really nice scented Oil diffuser and i would recommend this for it's nice sweet scent.
The Body Shop Cranberry Joy Reed Diffuser
While wandering around The Body Shop before Christmas in search of nice stocking filler type gifts I came across this Cranberry Joy Reed Diffuser, which they had on display. What really caught my attention was the nice, sweet, seasonal smell that was wafting in my direction. I am a big fan of scented candles and other room fragrances, but I have only ever tried one maybe two reed diffusers in the past, but I did decide to treat myself to this one.
As I mentioned, one of the things that I like best and that really caught my attention about this reed diffuser was that the smell is pleasant but not too strong, it makes for a great background fragrance that doesn't ever get over powering. We have left ours in the hallway (or I move it into the living room) and it really scents the whole area but not strongly. I love walking downstairs in the morning and getting a nice fresh burst of the berry scent. In the past I have sometimes found that these reed diffusers can be a bit too strong for me, because I really do prefer a nice background scent rather than something that is more in the foreground.
The glass jar is made from recycled glass and comes with 10 think wooden sticks which sit inside the jar and the oil based scented mixture. They help to diffuse and release the fragrance of the diffuser. The whole thing looks rather nice when sat on the coffee table or bathroom shelf. I also really like that the body shop haven't stuck or attached any tacky looking labels or advertising onto the product. It is simple and elegant looking and like the fragrance it will sit well in the background without making too much of a statement.
When I bought mine these were retailing for £15 but if you bought one you got one half price, I also believe that they are now available online for £7 (thanks to the January sales) for as long as stocks last. I bought this to use and ended up liking it so much that I bought one for both my mother in law as well as my own mum. Although they are pricey, they do last for 8 weeks or approximately 2 months so you don't need to buy them often and personally I really like this so in my opinion I think it's pretty good value for money.
The body shop suggests that the essential oil will last for up to eight weeks, so far mine has been going strong for four and a bit weeks and there is still plenty left. Personally, I think that around about eight weeks will be pretty accurate.
This really does get a well earned five out of five stars it creates a lovely background scent to any room that you choose to leave it and display it in. I would happily recommend this reed diffuser to other people and I will be buying this or others from the body shop again in the near future.
I believe that this is a seasonal limited edition reed diffuser so if you want to try it, it would best to be quick before they run out of stock until next year.
Function: This reed diffuser steadily releases the aroma of fresh berries throughout the day.
