“ Brand: The Body Shop / Type: Fragrance Oil / Category: Home Fragrance „
The fragrance oils that come from the Body Shop are good quality and smell gorgeous. I have bought and tried loads of various scents.
In the body of the fragrance burner I place a lit tealight candle. I fill the well on the top of the burner with warm water- to release the fragrance faster- then add a few drops of the fragrance oil to it.
The 2 inch high clear glass bottle comes with a child proof lid, it's not difficult to open you just push down and turn. The lid has a spill proof dropper opening which dispenses a few drops out at a time. Their oils come in 10mls at a cost of £4 each the Mango fragrance was available on sale instore and can also be found on ebay. Their labels have had a face lift and differ from the above. The labels are now see through and look more exotic but too similar to each other- so not easy to differentiate between them on the shelf. The label peels off to tell us about the usual cautions etc.
Mango has a strong fruity smell- all the Body Shop oils are strong, the scent fills the room as soon as the water starts to heat up and reaches full aroma after around 15 mins. Only about 4 drops is adequate- anymore and I have to blow it out or dilute it, this is good as it shows just how little you need to use. The last bottle I used lasted a couple of months, lit atleast once a day. Sometimes I only need refill the water and not add anymore oil, the left over residue is enough for another few hours.
This smells really fruity and summery. I can smell a strong (I presume mango but not really sure what a mango is supposed to smell like) mango scent with a fresh citrussy background flavour- but not in a cleaning fluid sort of a way or synthetic, I find it a very clean smell. If too much oil is added though it can become over powering.
Unfortunately the fragrance- although when burning away wafts around the downstairs- does disperse quickly when not lit so not a long lasting air freshener.
I would recommend any of the Body Shop oils as they are good quality and last ages.
The Body Shop Mango Home Fragrance Oil - 10ml bottle for £3.50.
I bought this Body Shop Mango Home Fragrance Oil last week for the cost of £3.50 for a 10ml bottle. I have tried the Satsuma Home Fragrance Oil and the Exotic Home Fragrance Oil in the past and I was keen to try the Mango variety as The Body Shop Mango Shower Gel is one of my all time favourite products.
The Mango Oil looks very pale yellow in colour and is almost exactly the same colour as Mango Shower Gel. Like all the home fragrance oils it is in a small plastic bottle which contains 10mls of the oil. The bottle the oil comes in can be recycled along with the lid of the oil bottle. Well done Body Shop!
You do not need to place very much oil in your burner for this oil to work but like lots of other things in life quantity does matter and the more oil you place in the burner the greater the smell. You should also remember to keep topping the water up in the burner so that the oil does not dry out and burn.
My first results using the Mango Oil were fantastic, the whole house smelt very fruity with a hint of musk. The smell was like having a fruit bowl full of ripe mangos, the smell was intense and sultry without being too overpowering. The fragrance lasted a while, all in all it was a real treat.
The important thing to remember with this product is that under your oil burner is a burning tealight and the oil and water in the top heats up to expel the fragrance. This should be kept well away from children at all times and extinguished when you go to bed or leave the house.
Notes of fresh mango, pineapple, orange zest and grapefruit - these combine to create the fruity and zesty top notes which awaken and stimulate the senses.
Notes of oranges and mango pulp - these combine to create the fruity heart notes and are the most prominent notes of the fragrance.
Notes of lime and Babassu oil - these combine to create the fruity base notes which tend to linger for longer than the other notes. The Babassu Oil helps create the sultry scent of the oil.
Use with any Oil Burner. Half fill the well with water and add a few drops of Home Fragrance Oil. Place a tea light in the opening on the base and light. Do not leave the tea light alight for more than 20 minutes. Never mix oils. Fragrance combinations can be achieved using a split dish oil burners. Ensure that the well does not dry out.
Summary: Lovely home fragrance as good as, if not better than any plug in air freshner I have tried.
The Body Shop have a range of home fragrance oils in different scents that can be used in oil burners to fill your home with a delicious scent. This one is mango scent and is so fruity and fresh you won;t be able to resist.
A 10ml glass bottle costs £3.50 but you can get 10% off with a Love your Body Card (please view my review for full details). It has a screw top which is easy to use and it pors slowly so you don't waste or spill any. Both parts of the bottle can be recycled.
How and where to use
I use a traditional oil burner (The Droplet burner by The Body Shop which I also reviewed). I fill the water compartment in my oil burner then add 12 drops of oil. I have a large open plan Terraced property but I would recommend 5 drops for a smaller room, but you can trial this out so you know you get the desired effect. You light the candle and leave, supervised. Never leave the candle lit or near children or pets which could knock it over.
What is the effect
The room will filled with the fruity sweet scent of Mangoes. The scent lingers a long time and really puts a smile on my face when I smell it. This scent suits bright rooms, living rooms and kitchens. Lavander is great for the bedroom as it relaxes.
I love this product. It is a good price and lasts months. It saves me from buying expensive candles that don't really have a scent. It is easy to fill the whole room with a great scent, this one in particular smells fruity and fresh and very much like their ripe sweet Mango range of bath and shower products.
