It would be nice for Christmas

I have a Body Shop Christmas oil burner set. The oils that came with it were lovely and I have since bought loads more, in various fragrances.

You fill the well on the top of your burner with water- I use warm water to get the fragrance going quicker- then add a few drops of oil to it. After lighting a tealight I pop it inside the burner to heat the water which when hot releases the fragrance.

The 2 inch high clear glass bottle comes with a child proof lid, it's not difficult to open you just push down and turn. Underneath the lid is a spill proof opening which allows only a few drops out at a time. The oil comes in 10mls at a cost of £4. The label is exotic looking but similar to their other scents so not easy to spot. The label peels off to tell us about the usual cautions etc.

Sandalwood and Ginger has a strong smell as do all Body Shop oils, the scent fills the room as soon as the water starts to heat up and reaches full aroma after around 15 mins. Only about 4 drops is adequate- infact anymore and I have to blow it out or dilute it, this is a bonus though it just shows how little you need to use- a small bottle lasts ages. The bottle I'm using at the moment has lasted a couple of months, I light it once a day. Sometimes I only refill the water and not add anymore oil, the left over oil is enough for another go.

This smells warm and spicy, not so much gingery but thats's okay!!. I can smell a woodiness to it but not in a forest way- more a sweet but musky way, it reminds me of Christmas spices. The smell wafts around but doesn't linger once the burner has been put out. It's strong while it lasts.

I would recommend any of the Body Shop oils as they are good quality, long lasting and Sandalwood and Ginger is no exception!

It's a bit out of the ordinary for me - but nice

The Body Shop Sandalwood & Ginger Home Fragrance Oil - currently £4 for a 10ml bottle

I tend to be a massive fan of all things to throw into my oil burner, and as such seem to get a selection of different oils in my stocking at Christmas. This is one of the scents that I have ended up with over the course of the last year. I personally tend to choose fruity fragrances and as such this was a bit on the 'different' side.

As with all other room fragrance oils this is to be used in a well with water and a tea light under it to help the evaporation process. The fragrance is as it says sandalwood and ginger, which smalls a little musky and spicy. Although I tend to choose the lighter fruit based fragrances I have to say that I have really enjoyed using this one. The scent itself is one of the stronger fragrances in the range and will easily scent the whole of my (very small) house if I leave the doors open. I personally feel the scent is better suited to the darker nights that we have started to get now, as in my opinion it lends itself to sleepy nights on the sofa rather than pepping you up for a night out.

Having never smelt sandalwood previously to my knowledge I cannot comment about how true to life that element of the fragrance is, but the ginger comes though beautifully, and the two scents work very well to compliment each other.

I find it to be nice and relaxing, and I have to say I would recommend it. For me I find the scent to be a bit different but this may just be that it is outside my usual comfort zone.

One of my favourite home fragrance oils.

I love to fragrance my home with scented candles or home fragrance oil and therefore I was delighted to receive an oil burner and some home fragrance oils from The Body Shop last Christmas.
Since receiving my gift I have been steadily working my way through the oils with mixed views on the different fragrances.

Sandalwood & Ginger was probably not an oil I would have personally chosen based on the name alone, as I am not a big fan of fragrances containing ginger as a rule, despite my love of woody and spicy fragrances. However, when I removed the top from the bottle to smell the fragrance I was pleasantly surprised by this fragrance which indeed is woody and spicy, but there is not a big scent of ginger here. Instead there is a lovely mellow woody fragrance with just the right amount of spice to keep it subtle.

The fragranced oil comes in a 10ml bottle which costs £3.50 from The Body Shop, both in stores and online at www.thebodyshop.co.uk.
Now £3.50 may seem a lot to pay for a small bottle of fragranced oil, particularly when it is possible to pick up bottles of fragranced oil at a much cheaper price if you shop around. However, I don't mind paying £3.50 for a fragrance I really like, but of course it is all down to how well it performs too. If the fragrance the oil gives off is weak when you are actually using it in an oil burner, then no matter how nice it smells on opening the bottle, I would not be able to justify paying £3.50 for it.

After lighting a tealight and placing it underneath the well of the oil burner, I then fill the well with water and add 3 drops of this Sandalwood & Ginger fragrance oil. After a few minutes I can begin to detect the fragrance in the room.
The key ingredients of this oil are Juniper oil, Ginger oil, Vanilla extract and Community Fair Trade soya oil and I would describe it as a very woody fragrance with a hint of spice and vanilla, perfect for autumn and winter evenings and of course to use over the festive period.
The Community Fair Trade soya oil comes from organic, non-GM soya beans, grown in southern Brazil using traditional farming methods free of harmful pesticides and fertilisers. The beans are hand-harvested and pressed to extract the oil.

The fragrance isn't too heavy but will fill your room with its woody scent. You must keep an eye on the well of the burner and ensure it does not dry out. I top the water up when needed and add another drop of oil when the fragrance begins to disappear.
You can use these oils with any oil burner but you shouldn't mix the oils. Fragrance combinations can be achieved by using split dish oil burners if this is what you'd like to do.

Overall I am happy to recommend this Sandalwood & Ginger home fragrance oil from The Body Shop. In terms of the fragrance and how long it lasts, it represents good value for money and is a good quality product, just as you would expect from The Body Shop.
As you only need to use a few drops, the bottle does last a long time. I have tried a few of these fragranced oils and I can honestly say this is one of the best I have ever used. It is also superior to many of the other Body Shop's home fragranced oils in my opinion.

Perfect for the fast-approaching festive period!
