Living in a hard water area, I struggle with keeping my toilet clean from limescae, and smelling nice at the same time. Bleach keeps it clean, but I dont want my toilet smelling like the local swimming pool! We visited my mother in law, and when I went to the toilet, I noticed a green blob of goo in there! When I asked, she told me it was Duck Fresh Discs. During my next shopping trip, I decided to buy some. At £2.69, it was more expensive than bleach, but I thought I would give it a go!

The Product.

The Fresh Discs come in a small ish box, the ones I bought were Lime Zest scented, and had a bright green flash across the box, as well as a picture of a duck in the top corner.
The box tells me that one application (thats one blob of goo!) will last for around a week. When I got home, I opened the box, and there were two 'tubes'. One was the handle, which has holes all down one side. The other was the gel holder, which was full of green goo, and had a button on one side. To assemble, you need to line up the button on the holder with the holes in the handle.
The gel needs to be placed by water, so I held the tube underneath my toilet rim. To place the gel, you have to push the button in, then push gently on the handle, so the button moves down to the next hole on the slot. Pull away the tube, and you are left with a nice blob on your toilet! There is a lid to put over the reamining gel, and due to the compact size its easy to store away.

My Opinions

I was very pleasantly surprised by the strength of the smell coming from the gel. It is really strong, and smells much better than bleach. I only have a little toilet room seperate from my bathroom, and the smell wafted down the hallway too. When you flush, the smell gets stronger, and there is a small froth that builds up so you know the cleaning side of the product is working.
I cant say I have noticed a great difference in the cleanness of my toilet, but the smell is definately better.
As I said previously, the box says that one blob is enough for a week. So I was disappointed when the day after putting the first one on, it was gone and needed replacing. At first I thought it was a one offso added another, and again, it only lasted a day. I dont know if it is because there are 5 of us that use the toilet, but even 5 people dont flush that much!!!

Final Words

I am still undecided as to wether I will buy the product again. At almost £3 I think its expensive when it is not going to last me any more than 6 days. If each disc was lasting a week, then I would definately buy again without a doubt. If anything, my toilet now smells a lot cleaner and fresher, so thats a bonus I suppose!
