"There is a fruit pastel stuck in the toilet", said my husband.

"Don't be daft - its a toilet duck" I replied.

What a strange conversation to have on a Saturday afternoon!

I had been to the supermarket and come home with some cleaning material and set about firstly cleaning the bathroom - a job I dislike enormously, but it has to be done, and no one else in this house is going to do it! I scrubbed and brushed and washed and the bathroom was looking and smelling clean, and to finish of with a flourish I stuck the toilet duck in the toilet!

What are toilet duck gel discs?

Duck Fresh Discs are pleasant smelling gel disks that stick to the inside rim of your toilet bowl and freshen your toilet for up to 7 days, dissolving a little with each flush, just like the old cage blocks that you hung over the rim.

Packaging
------------
They come in a cardboard box in which there are two plastic tubes and a small blue cap. One clear plastic tube contains the gel (enough for 6 gel discs) and the other blue plastic tube has holes up the side and fits over the clear tube. The blue tube has holes up one side into which a button on the clear tube fits and moves up as you squeeze them together to dispense the gel.

Use
----
The two tubes have to be aligned and fixed together before dispensing the disk. This was easy to do after reading the instructions.

The assembled tube is then placed against the clean rim of the toilet and the button pressed in on the side of the dispenser while pushing the dispenser handle towards the bowl of the toilet. The button jumps to the next hole and when the dispenser is pulled straight back from the toilet bowl a round green disc is left behind. The cap is then placed over the end so that the tube can be stored for next use.

I bought the lime zest but they are also available in Marine fragrance.

What I like about Toilet Duck Gel Discs

I like the idea that these can be stuck into your toilet and dissolve away themselves without having to remove and replace a cage that has been hanging in the toilet.

They smell fresh and leave a lasting scent in the toilet.

They are easy to use.

They are inexpensive - £3 for the pack in my local Tesco

What I dislike about Toilet Duck Gel Discs

There is excessive packaging and none of the packaging indicates whether it is recyclable. For this reason I have not given it 5 stars.

They do look a bit like a fruit pastel stuck in the toilet!

I like this toilet freshener and will certainly use again.
